Schatt & Morgan?

I love mine, got a couple heritage jacks, a few of the premiers, and another jack
But I have had these for a few years, they haven't dropped anything new
that I have wanted to buy...

On slip joints the most of any were these but with what Santa has put under the tree the GECs will have at on Christmas day...

Jody mentioned the Premier line, they have n/s pins, liners, shield & bolsters. With a New York tang stamp, here they are.....

There is also a humpback/lockback whittler that I do not have a pic of. Perhaps someone else?????????

I love my vintage Queen one armed Barlow (partially hidden springs). Great snap, no play, thin grinds, F&F is spot on, all of which should be expected from a factory knife.
My more current example of Queen quality is not up to par, which may or may not be the norm these days.
It's a 2010 Keystone Railsplitter Whittler in wormgroove bone and looks nice from mark side view but once in hand and inspected it disappoints. Weight is usually not a factor for me but this guy is chunky. All 3 blades have insanely obtuse and dull edges, "plasticky" scales, and sloppy springs. And that's nothing compared to the massive backsprings/space between the blades when closed. It feels like a 1" thick Swiss Army knife holding 3 blades.
Sorry for the somewhat negative rant, but I have followed this whole thread and felt I had to share. I do hear good things about the Daniels family and wish Queen the best in the future. We need more companies like these to keep our addiction alive.

What's that short little blade opposite the caplifter called? It looks like it would be really useful. I don't think I've seen one quite like that before.

The Premier line was a great example of Schatt & Morgan quality under Bill Howard's watchful eye. I have all ten releases and was very disappointed when Clarence Risner couldn't get Queen to commit to extend the line.

I had one of those but gave it away to a member here. I think it was called a Small English Jack? Particularly liked the bone on that series, most unusual looking, great material! NS liners as well, no brass:thumbup: Elegant boxes with this series too.

Thanks, Will

You are correct Will, they did call that knife a small English Jack!
The Premier Series had many top of the line features, like you said no brass all nickle/sliver pins, liners. Also they have match striker pulls on all but the Muskrat, the medium Trapper and the Lockback Humpback Whittler. The New York stamp is cool also!
I wish Queen would produce more in this line.

Congratulations!!! Gotta Love the Winterbottom bone!

Dave

thanks! looking at a clip now, i think thats 1095, this spear point might be ATS 34, it doesnt say in the back just has the numbers. also this tear drop jack set :D

Did schatt and morgan change steels? i see the winterbottom barlows in 1095 and ATS 34

Before the Daniels' ownership, they used 1095 for Queen City branded knives, D2 for Queen brand, 420HC for S&M Keystone series, and ATS34 for File & Wire series. Since Daniels' ownership, they mixed them up, at least I haven't seen much consistency.
