ScrapYard Knives

I own over 30 Busse's and Busse Kin, I have never had a problem with there warranty of the Customer Service. I can spend my money on many other different comapanys knives and I have on Ranger, Ferhman, Fallkniven, Dozier, Barkriver etc etc. Busse has been great to me in responding to questions and the family atmosphere lends itself to finding out a great deal about whichever model you want.

In the beginning scrapyard was hard to get ahold of but now with Renee I havent had an issue, its a young company and is still working through kinks and how to run the business plan. It may be a wierd system on how to get there knives but if you want em thats the game you play.

I will always recommend all three companies as there knives have given me no problems and great use.

I'm relatively new to the Busse family of knives but have bought directly from all three companies without a problem. In fact Busse and Scrapyard have gone above and beyond in terms of customer service. Renee at Scrapyard was prompt in responding to emails (even during the winter storms last month) and I requested Busse change the finish on a knife I had on order - which they did no problem.

Once you figure out how to order and are patient it really is easy.

For my info how old is the company?? I was under the impression/assumption that is was more than 5 years old- to me not that young to use it as an excuse, but I may be wrong.

I've had a good first experience with Scrapyard. The knives are easy enough to get your hands on (their website is fairly straight forward) as long as you keep track of when they are being produced. It was kind of frustrating untill last fall with the SOD, we had at least a month and a half where people could place an order for that knife.
If they keep this system Scrapyard offerings should be much easier to get than they were previously.

The warranty is lifetime- If you can get a response from them.

99.9% of the replies to my post have been very helpful and greatly appreciated. I may still buy the DogFather LE if I can find one. I do not think I will hold my breath or search real hard. But from time to time take a quick look.

scrapyard, swamp rat, and busse are best purchased second hand through blade forums. Otherwise you have to moniter their web site ,and wait for the feeding time, and then maybe, a month later or sometimes longer you may be blessed enough to receive one of their knives. They seem to only make a single model at a time so the one you may want might not appear for some time if at all. Thats one of the reasons why i recommend fallkniven , bark river , ranger to name a few.

I was really into the Swamp Rat line when it first started up, then they started to get harder to buy, you had to monitor the forums every day and be in the right place at the right time AND have the money/credit available when the feeding frenzy happened, or you were ass-out. It got really clicky, if you weren't all the way in you were all the way out. That was a big turn off for me, so I sold my battlerat and howling rat and moved on.:jerkit:

GREAT! see you later, more knives for us,dont let the door hit you in the A$$ on the way out.
Seriously people,grow the hell up.

I have been buying knives from Busse,Swamprat and Scrapyard for over two years now with no problem either finding the knives to buy or contacting the respective companies.I suggest all those who are have having trouble head on over to their nearest Ninja supply store and leave the knives to rest of us who are not incapable of a bit of searching on the internet and are not lacking in a bit of patience and common sense.

To be sure, obtaining a Busse knife can be an arduous and often frustrating task. Patience is the key!

But I have found that the extra effort involved actually adds to the enjoyment of owning them.

When another one is added to the collection, a real feeling of accomplishment comes with it, especially if you were able to get it at a good price (a relative term to be sure).

And that's just the beginning, because these knives are made to be used and upon using them, you find that there genuinely is good reason for the 'cultish' following that they have.

They are extremely well made, they cut like crazy and they are tough mothers!

Of all my knives, the Busse's would probably be the last to go if it ever came to that.

Ill contact renee and im sure shell work things out, I was still pming Patty.
All the busse hogs may or may not realize that they are very poor representatives of the company when it comes to customer service issues. In other words they dont need you to stick up for them- it makes them look bad.

WTF? :jerkit:

That is quite enough from the clowns who keep hijacking threads.

I have warned you knuckleheads before. Quit pushing things.

The post is asking for recommendations not childish rubbish.

A very helpful reply! I'm glad you were able to grace us with your presence. I was asking for advice not to be mocked. Many other members seem to be able to post without hijacking a post and flaming! If you think this makes me jealous that there will be more for you your nuts. I have been buying customs for a few years now and have waited well over a year for several of them. I needed a high quality semi-custom big bladed chopper for a trip in May. But I'm sure I can buy from a maker here which I would rather support anyway.

Like I said, I would like to get a DFLE and may some day. It may or may not happen, who knows.

See MNY, this is the attitude of the elite. Go pick up a good Bark River or similar knife and be happy you are not part of that crowd. I have to go, I have to go to the mall ninja store and pick up my ninth William Henry...:D

Im a Bussed noob...In the short period that I have been obtaining Busse and Busse kin knives I have had nothing but positive regard on the Busse forum and they have all helped me get the blades that I have. I have 3 Busse knives and 1 Scrapyard...meager but not diffult to obtain any of them. Busse collectors are contantly rotating their collection and the amount of knives for sale in the forum is large enough for even the most casual knife enthusiest to pick up a Busse usually for below cost if gently used is ok with you.

Busse newb here. 6 blades, zero problems with any of the companies or with obtaining any of the knives.

In fact, I would call it excellent service.

Busse formula= Genius marketing (Create exclusivity, cultish following, insider lingo, limited production, "special limited" issue, member's only opportunities, barriers to ownership, etc.) + Excellent product (superior warranty, proprietary steel)

Don't throw out Busse product because of the Busse Lunatic Fringe. Yes, it can be a real pain in the ass to buy a Busse or family knife. The business model no doubt puts off people. But if you go that extra mile and ignore the dorks you will find the product and warranty are excellent, or I wouldn't be

BUSSELOVER!

stick it out. you won't regret it. once you have an opportunity to use one of their family knives, you might just be surprised by the quality of theis blades. as far as fixed blades go, hard to beat! now about that folder...........

also NO REGRETS!

The knives r excellent. I have knives from many makers. my busses are my pride and joy.

Y do things like this end up so angry?

if you dont like them dont buy them.

Im a soldier and i plan to do contracting work in the future, so i could conceivably need a knife to save my life by prying open a door, cutting through sheet metal or plexiglass. A busse fulfills that role. ive seen enough testing that i dont need to go beat it into a cinderblock to believe that i can trust it with my life.....

I have to put it like this. Having knives from all 3 companies, the products live up to the hype. Look for the best price someone offers on the for sale forum and grab one if you really want it. Now, Americans are really too spoiled. I hope that as this economy grinds down to a standstill, we won't have to be getting on a 3 or 4 month waiting list at walmart for a 3 pack of underwear because it sounds like some people won't be able to cope. I'd rather keep my eyes peeled for an American made knife that I've been assured is worth the trouble, than I would buy anything coming from overseas right now. We need to support as best we can, the local shops that are taking big risks to be manufacturers in the US these days. I bought extra Dog Fathers and Dumpster Mutts when they were available to use as barter goods in the future. I think the days of having everything that we want whenever we want it are coming to an end in this country.

No hijacking here, just responding to a bunch of posts. You start by asking for help and finish by saying you are not going to look very hard.....my point exactly. And yeah i was trying to make you jealous because i care about you THAT much.

See MNY, this is the attitude of the elite. Go pick up a good Bark River or similar knife and be happy you are not part of that crowd. I have to go, I have to go to the mall ninja store and pick up my ninth William Henry...:D

WOW you think i am elite,

I am interested in purchasing a knife from these folks but the website does not lend itself friendly in explaining how. Is there some sort of super duper secret handshake and code to do this. I know when I tried joining SwampRat Forums to find out about their knives I got the brushoff. It didn't allow me to join. Thats fine and all. Plenty of choices out there I guess. Just wondering if anyone has the ins on how to order from them?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure everyone who's a fan of busse family knives has gone through the frustration thing. it's like the steps of grieving, really. the best advice I can give you is participate in the SY forum, or the busse subforum here at BF, and make some friends. the social aspect is a large part of the appeal, anyway. they'll keep you up-to-date on what's what, and if you read the FAQs and don't act like a jackass, you'll have fun and meet some great people.

IIRC, I believe that it's under 3 years old (ScrapYard Knife Co.). With Renee recently hired to handle customer service, I hear that the Yard is functioning more smoothly now.

That is quite enough from the clowns who keep hijacking threads.

Noted. My apologies, Bastid. :o

I don't want to get into a thing here, but the folks that I have personally met from that crowd are some of the nicest and most considerate folks I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. JMHO. Sorry that you feel differently.

............................................................

mnyshrpknvs, I believe that even if you are not registered on the SYKC home forum (Forum link), you can still peruse the threads there... May I suggest that you check occasionally & keep an eye on Renee's posts/threads looking for upcoming news about ScrapYard knife offerings? That is the best way to see 'em coming, and to get yours... If you still have an interest, of course. :)

Happy Hunting!
