Sebenza 1st timer- for anyone else thinking about it here were some surprises

@James Y it's not strange, if you like the Inkosi better it's because it's chubbier than the 21, it's pretty much the reason why anyone likes the Inkosi better. Because the finger grooves or kinda dumb and forces you to index the knife a particular way, but it's also small enough that it doesn't bother you too much of it doesn't. It's a happy compromise, not perfect but great enough to be super likable. It's probbie my favorite knife even though I rotate my edcs.

It's front flipper.
Well, more of a front opener. I can do it with one hand, but no lightening fast action.
I like this knife a lot.:)
I don't care for studs much, although I have several of them.

Done! Can you pm me your PayPal!

PS sabre cat sabre cat your inbox is full. You're going to think this is nuts but I was literally just thinking about you the other day as we we were on the same wharnie thread.

I had been meaning to ask you... did you want to try out a small Inkosi Insingo before you buy? Mine isn't for sale but I can send it to you to try out for a few weeks and you can just send it back after. I could also send the Natrix in D2 so you can see what I mean about the 2 knives having nearly identical blades and carry. So much so I was trying to trade the small Insingo for a large while keeping the Natrix as a proxy for the small Inkosi. Let me know in the pm.

Chris
Well, the Inkosi and the Kershaw on loan from cchu518 cchu518 arrived yesterday afternoon.

This is the first time I have ever handled a small knife from CRK and the first time for an Insingo bladed Knife.

I must say that I am impressed with the blade shape. Very impressed. I can see why so many of you are big fans of the blade design.

Also very impressed with the quality of materials and workmanship. Actually, I would say “very impressed “ is an understatement.

Let me say that I have never really been a fan of metal scales very much. Especially if they get wet. The only real exception to that has been the Alox scales from Victorinox but, I consider the Vic Alox a light duty knife.

The pocket clip on the Inkosi is surprisingly good. In fact it is the best I personally have ever experienced. A lot of manufacturers could learn a thing or two about pocket clips if they just paid attention to CRK.

On of the ways I normally evaluate a small folder is to use it for food prep in the kitchen. That starts tomorrow. The smallest folder I have ever used for that is a SAK Cadet. We will see how the Inkosi stacks up compared to the Cadet.

Thanks Chris.

Until tomorrow...

I bought.my first sebenza last week, postal service is going slow lately so probably won't get it until next week.

It's used, been sharpened and shows some honest wear marks on it, but will let me know if I really want to pay the premium for a new one.

Well played sir!

My knife showed up, first thing I notice is how smooth it is(besides the amazing packaging)

Fits my hand great, though I can see why they adjusted the pocket clip on the 31.

Will most likely spend the cash on a new knife with inlays in the future, now to show off the Frankenstein

That looks nice with the hole  Any pics with it closed?

Best thing about the Sebenza 21? I can take it apart, clean it, put it back together and it's perfectly centered every time! What other knife can you do that with for less money than a Sebenza? I love Spyderco's, huge fan, but sometimes have to play around with them forever to get the centering and tension right. Does that make it worth the price? That's up to you.

Mike

I like CRK a lot and I can understand why some folks don’t use every CRK they buy. Down the road it’s very much possible I will buy a CRK or two that will not ever cut anything. However it would have to be a rare one that I think might really gain value for me not to use it. Until then, I will beat the hell out of the CRK’s I own. In most cases in fact, I think they look better with bruises and bang marks on them.

I like my small inkosi much much more than I used to like my small 21.
Sorry - not much of a comment, but just my two cents.

I was planning on waiting for more Large 31’s to come out but I’m probably gonna go with a nice 21 before all the good ones are gone.

I use a small 21 insingo micarta that I use in the kitchen frequently. The blade shape is very efficient and it sharpens easily. It's a liitle small for what I would consider EDC but I've worn it while wearing a suit for example. I find it a little harder to open than other knives of the size. All this talk of CRK makes me think I should get a large insingo before their gone.

I also have a large 21 drop point and a Wilson Star-Tac. The Star-Tac is an amazing knife.

The knives are all made well and that seems to be the standard and expectation. Not all the features will matter to or be appreciated by everyone. I don't like the thumbstuds. I'm left-handed, have no left-handed knives, and prefer right-handed knives; I wish there was a little more clearance on the lock side around the thumb stud. Most recognize the knives as significant to the knife industry, history, and hobby.

That looks really good and probably functions better than the thumb stud. Too bad it voids the warranty.
