Sebenza 1st timer- for anyone else thinking about it here were some surprises

I will add to my last post that I encourage anyone interested in their first CRK to buy off the Exchange...be patient about it.

It takes the “I paid what?!?!” factor out of one’s mind and the knife can be experienced without baggage.

At the time I bought my first ‘Zaan off the Exchange it was about the same price as a new Benchmade 761. I’m glad I went for the CRK.

This whole thread would be moot if the OP had just started with an Umnumzaan.;)

I’m only slightly kidding. The ‘Zaan was my first CRK and I’m honestly not sure I’d like the brand as much if I’d started with something different.
If the Zaan was sub 3.5 inches and legal here the startac I just sold would have probably beaten out the small starbenza as my only knife.

I normally drove a Toyota Highlander but recently my wife fell in love with a car that she had to have. It was a CPO selling for 1/3 it's original list, it's a stock 12 second car with a twin turbo V8 that is hand built by one technician and makes about 600HP.

Having that variety is fun. I got laid off recently and even though I've been on a budget knife kick for the last year I traded my Mnandi for an Inkosi. I'm glad I did, when manage to land a job again after the world gets back to normal the only knives I've been hankering to get are a Zaan and an Alox Cadet and Farmer.

No one has mentioned but CRK's have great blade to handle ratios and make for great slim/compact pocket edcs relative to getting a full size edc. I think the small pockets about as good as a mini grip bit not quite as slim as a Delica so that's saying a lot!

Gratuitous shot of the twin turbo V8 attached

C CHNeal , sorry it didn’t work out for you. :(

If my life gets back on track after the craziness, I’ll make a solidarity pledge to KnifeRights.

I might have an extra Cadet.

If you pay shipping, it is yours.

PS sabre cat sabre cat your inbox is full. You're going to think this is nuts but I was literally just thinking about you the other day as we we were on the same wharnie thread.

I had been meaning to ask you... did you want to try out a small Inkosi Insingo before you buy? Mine isn't for sale but I can send it to you to try out for a few weeks and you can just send it back after. I could also send the Natrix in D2 so you can see what I mean about the 2 knives having nearly identical blades and carry. So much so I was trying to trade the small Insingo for a large while keeping the Natrix as a proxy for the small Inkosi. Let me know in the pm.

Coming from someone that has owned 300+ CRK. Keep It. Some have a preference for large or small. I personally like larges. CRK hold their value.

I ultimately would like a Zaan and an Insingo Inkosi. I'm ok if it's 2 large's as I mostly edc small knives and have some great ones in that size that work well for me. Also weird thing I like the Inkosi better than the 21s for the same reason most ppl have noted, it's slightly pudgier than the 21.

I have had several zaans and did have an Insingo Inkosi. I personally prefer the simplistic original design of the sebenza and have stuck with that over the years. I also much prefer the large over the small. All great designs, but the sebenza is just plain special. I have always regarded the large regular sebenza as the finest folding knife ever designed. Prices have now kept many from ever experiencing that and the fact people are just hanging on to them. The 21 is as close as you can get to that.

Chris

Try to PM me again with your address.

I’ll just send the knife. If it is what you have in mind, just mail me a check or money order.

I have PayPal but have only ever used it to purchase items on eBay so I can’t even tell you what my PayPal address is. I am not up to speed on tech stuff. Pretty sad.

As for the Insingo, you are the man! Thank you!

My Sebenza was frustratingly stiff and butter knife sharp when I received BNIB from authorized dealer.

I’ve experienced several Ti framelocks that were better than the Sebenza imo. The only reason I still have my Sebenza is bc of the lefty option. The Pro Tech Tr3 was everything I hoped the Sebenza would be, but it went out of its way to prevent lefty use.

It's got a lefty friendly version due to Chris' dedication to customer satisfaction. Sebenza was really one man's vision.

I just ordered a large 21 Insingo. I can't wait for it to get here. Do you all like the Insingo blade shape? I think I will like it. I have owned other CR's but none with this kind of blade shape.

I much prefer the Insingo. My favorite blade shape out of any knife I’ve owned. I carry it everyday, but decided to carry my Drop Point today because it was feeling lonely!

Started (CRKs anyway) with a Zaan here on the exchange. No longer have it, but I do have a 21 large insingo in micarta. I have other knives that are both less and more expensive, and quite a number that I like more. However, if faced with the often discussed "what if you could only keep 1 knife?" scenario, then it would be the CRK. It is a stellar tool.

Here’s another vote for the large insingo 21. Great all around useful shape
