Sebenza Overrated?

Lol okay that's fair enough. Are you realizing that you got ripped off, or do you not know "what they are" and struggle to justify such a high price. I don't know. I would really like to know "what they are".

Yeah, I'm just writhing in pain because I was ripped off or can't justify the money I've spent on them.

Please, stop the pain..... :p

Benchmade and Spyderco sure do. They make just as good knives with better blade steels at a much, much lower price.

Just give it a rest, you were called out in that you do not know what you're talking about when it comes to CNC fabrication...and trying to tell industry experts that you do isn't helping your case at all.

I know a lot of people love them.

But they don't feel good in MY hand.

That could just be me though

Yeah, but, don't you sell/resell a lot of knives here, and other places perhaps?

So, keeping the hype up on knives would financially benefit you, right?

No, they don't.

Don't get me wrong I'm sure they're nice and all. I like the guitar one. I don't think the .0005 tolerances mean much. I doubt most if any would even be able to tell the difference Thus making it pointless to put so much time and effort into producing a knife like that will go unnoticed. Though I could be wrong and I'd be happy to take a look at one as I said before.
Further proof that you just don't understand a thing you are talking about.:thumbup:
Once again, you can not tell the difference. You can lead a horse to water..

Out of all the ones in those pictures, I only lost the Acoustic in a trade for the Mnandi. To replace it I added a Inlaid Cocobolo and another Lg. 21.

So no, it does not financially benefit me to "hype" up the knives.

Even Sal said that if they produced a knife like the Sebenza with it's tolerances, that they would have to sell the knife at about the same price as the Sebenza.
^^This.

Surely, he doesn't accuse Sal of lying:rolleyes:?

Jiggy, please stop making such comments about the Sebenza until you've actually owned one.

The selling point of the Sebenza is the fit and finish, and it's something you can't fully appreciate without actually holding one in your hand.

What you're doing is the equivalent of a virgin giving advice about sex, it just doesn't work:thumbdn:.

How so? To keep this on topic I'll say once again. The CRK are over priced for what they are.
I'm quite sure they're not overpriced.

Never, and I mean never, has there been a folder that has been around for 20+ years that brings a price & resale like the Sebenza. This knife is the centerpiece of an organization that has been given the prestigious Manufacturer's Quality Award (by their peers no less) 10 times this century. Every manufacturer can only strive to have a winner, the biggest winner of them all, like the bad ass Seb. It's truly the most amazing high end folder ever produced. I'm astounded by it's staying power, and hope you all understand how difficult this is to achieve.

Hard to believe a company with its rich history like CRK's, and the Sebbie could be considered overpriced. Just doesn't make sense, history tells us so.

It's the guys who won't shell out the $$$ for one that put them down constantly. These threads get boring.

I'd say for the standard of work going out the shop door they really have the price down...with all the overheads taken into consideration, machine time, employee wages, tooling, QC and the various other stages that occur before you get the knife they could be asking a lot more.

I think they are great knives, I would love to own one...but at this point I can't afford to spend that sort of money on something that is a luxury.

Well, you see I wont ever own one as they are over priced( too many other better designs at a much lower price). I'm giving my opinion which is based on nothing. I believe I'm entitled to that. I will (as I have before) say that the fit and finish is not any better then any top of the line spyderco or benchmade. You are buying the name with a crk. Sure they're nice but they are not any better to justify the horrendous price increase. Subjective and all, that's the way it is.

I don't think it's so much the guys who wont shell out the money. I think it's more so the guys with an abundance of money to buy whatever they see fit. To these people the cost might not be such a big deal. Therefore they shell out a lot of money (to me) on something that could be had for much lower and because of the high price they tout better quality which from what I can tell is non existent. Basically it's something to spend money on, not because this item is better but because you have the money to blow.

I own about forty folders from various company's and just paid $150 for a folder that I am somewhat dissapointed in (I'll spare you the name).

My large Sebenza is the folder that I compare all the rest to. My conclusion is that I am going to sell off most of the collection and buy another Sebenza.

Wow, you certainly brought up an interesting point(and on your 4000th post no less:D). Thinking back on the knives I've seen, I really can't think of one that has been around for so many years and has more or less remained unchanged except for a few minor details and the blade steel:thumbup:.

And when you consider that CRK revolves around the Sebenza as their "flagship" knife, it really reinforces that.

Excuse me. Do I understand you to say that you are ragging on a knife that you have never even owned?!!

I am unable to properly respond to you in this forum. Post in Whine and Cheese and we'll see.

How do you know they're not better if again, you never owned one?
