Sebenza vs hinderer

This is my answer as well. I appreciate what both makers have done for the industry, and they both make good knives, but for the price, you can find innumerable rarer and more interesting knives, including some customs. Just to take an example, I bought this Chuck Gedraitis Model 1 for $395 (it would have been cheaper direct from the maker):

But so as not to derail the thread, I'd go with a large Sebenza over an XM-18.

That's a beautiful knife.

And what do you guys think of these match ups?
XM18 slicer grind vs Sebenza 21 drop point
XM18 wharncliffe vs sebenza 21 insingo
XM18 spanto vs sebenza 25 vs umnanzaan tanto
XM18 Bowie vs umnanzaan
XM18, 3" vs Inkosi

What else did I missed?

I'll Take the Sebenza over Hinderer. I'm not sure if it's the case anymore, but I hate the weak detents of every Hinderer I've ever owned, which is about a half dozen various XM's. So much so, that I really don't consider buying Hinderers anymore.

The new Gens have a fairly strong detent. Some models I've had in the past have been hard to open with the thumb stud. I think you should give them another chance if that was your only issue with them.

The new ones flip great! I actually prefer my medium/weak detent on my slicer. It still flips nice but I can also use the thumb stud and middle finger flick. Gravity drops as well.

I own a small Sebenza 21 and love it. I will probably buy another (the large is too large for my daily office carry, and I have small hands, anyway). I've never (yet) had a Hinderer, but I like the lines of the XM-18 spanto. Unfortunately, you never see them for sale in the 3 inch model. For me, the 3.5 is too big. I also wish you could get titanium on both sides. I prefer the symmetry.

In my honest and humble opinion, the Sebenza can handle just about any task that you would expose to a folding knife. The XM-18's tip is much stouter and will be better for prying whereas the Sebenza's blade geometry/grind is much better for slicing. I own an XM-18 (Full Ti) and a Large 21 Micarta and in general EDC, I prefer the 21.

^^it'll cost ya, but you can get full ti versions fairly readily these days.

And how would a person go about getting such a beastie? I thought Hinderer only took direct orders from law enforcement/first responders?

I gotta go with Hinderer simply because the warranty isn't voided by using the flipper to flick open the knife. CRK's are delicate butterflies to be held gently with white gloves. ;)

The answer to that one is definitely Tatanka. :D

Hmmmmm...

Hinderer over CRK

I've owned several XM-18's and CRK's and the 0562 in my opinion is better than both, so the 0562 over both.

And for shits and giggles.

Lambo over Ferrari, since lambo is owned by VW which in turn is essentially an Audi which in turn is in the same family as Porsche.

But Porsche over both because the VAG (Volkswagen Audi group) is the greatest and most important car corporation on the face of the planet, period.

Did I do it right?

Lol yeah definetly.

You can buy from dealers these days. Just do a quick Google search. I think a ti scale is 200 bones new, and that replaces the g-10 ti sandwich with a full slice of ti. They are still kind of hard to get a hold of, but not nearly as rare as a couple of years ago.

Dude, they're knives. Pick one you like and go for it. If it sucks, make a thread about it. If it's great, make a thread about it. Just don't bore us with which one is better because there's never a right answer.

I always prefer Strider over Hinderer when it come to tactical folder... CRK just in a difference league.
