Sebenza vs hinderer

CRK's are delicate butterflies to be held gently with white gloves. ;)

I know, right!?

Between 3,5 inch knives, my choice is Sebenza. In my opinion it is are great knife for most daily tasks, and if Hinderer is are "robust Sebenza" it should be an ultimate robust :) So I vote for Sebenza 21 and XM 24 :)

Only way you will get a true answer to your question is if you get both and make the decision yourself. I did, and the hinderer stayed. Both great knives, but it all comes down to preference.

I own a CRK small Sebenza and Umnumzaan as well as a Hinderer XM18 3.5 Spanto Gen4 and will be keeping all of them.

CRK - If you plan on using to cut/slice, clear winner for me. Excellent build quality. Probably slightly over my XM18. Enjoy using this one more.

Hinderer - Excellent build quality also, flips great once broken in, and super smooth action on it. Thick blade stock does not lend itself to slicing like a CRK or PM2 for that matter. Was glad to see the price come down to MSRP as I was not going to overpay so I waited a long time to get one. Enjoy "playing" with this one more.

Will post a family pic of all three later. All are users for me. CRK finish on titanium definitely shows the usage more but you can always send in for spa treatment if desired.

Love the simplicity of the Sebenza design, how easy I can take it apart to clean and reassemble it without messing it up, even though I wouldn't say the hinderer is particularly difficult to take apart or put back together, it does require more adjusting. CRK blade shape lends itself to more tasks I encounter, and would be the obvious choice for us lameo's who really only use their knives to cut open ties and boxes and occasionally trim some plants. Hinderer is obviously the better choice for LEO and FR types for quickness of deployment wearing gloves. I wouldn't want to use a sebenza if I were a cop partially because I'd always be afraid of losing it, also because its design doesn't lend itself to that trade. Honestly I'd probably use a PM2 over a hinderer if I were an first responder, less fear of losing it and the spydie hole is always easy to access. Personally. If I were attacked by a bear I'd definitely want the hinderer!

Since the posting of this thread, I have purchased a large Sebenza 21. I have been very happy with all the things mentioned. Fit and finish, function. I would highly recommend the Sebenza 21.

Here is the age old question that everyone wants to be solved once and for all.... Rolls Royce Phantom vs Lamborghini Aventador.

Not a very old question considering the Aventador has only been out since 2011 lol
Plus totally different classes of cars
A better one would be Rolls Royce vs Bentley..and even than I'd give the same answer as I would for hinderer vs sebenza..why not both

I own both, they are different knives as many have already posted. To me the Hinderer feels more robust and heavy in hand but the CRK feels more refined gentlemanly. I like both and keeping both.

Like them both/carry them both. That is when I am not carrying my SnG :)
If I go by my purchases the Sebenza wins out, but that doesn't translate directly to carry time where the SnG would win
4 forms of Lg. Sebenza, 3 small Sebenza
2-3" XM 18 non flippers, 1 Lg. non flipper
4 forms of SnG

^ I totally agree!

I'm just curious Peter- how would you compare your CRK small Sebenza, with one of your XM-18 3" models?

Honestly, I don't think hinderers are as strong as they are thought to be. But that's just my opinion.

Or maybe they already did the stress test and do not want to release the results:D?

No help here. Carry and use both, and Umnumzaan. New to XM-18, Gen 4., and still exploring it. Plenty of carry time to keep all from feeling left out.
