"Seroiusly" is seriously trying my patience.

Thread Drift about "Net to Me"- I tried to buy a $500 knife and the Seller wanted $500 Net except he wouldn't tell me What that meant in real dollars. I had to assume he meant 2.9% + 30 cents, Do the math and ask if that's what he meant. It was a real put off and even though I said "I'll Take It" I just moved on.

This stuff really ticks me off. Some sellers ask for "NET to me" yet don't even know what the fees are. Some sellers say X price + 3.5%. Others will say $225 + $7.03.

Just round up your prices guys or eat the fees!!!

As far as buying goes, I won't say I don't occasionally use Gift Payment for guys I've dealt with before. However, a few years back there was a guy with over a dozen positive feedback that ended up ripping off numerous members here on the forum before he went MIA (ssblood). I'd sent that payment as a Gift but somehow convinced PayPal to refund me the money. I got lucky though. Goes to show that even members with a good reputation can go sour.

All that being said, this thread seems entirely off-track at this point.

In the short time I've been reading this forum I've seen tons of sales threads asking buyers to use friends and family or add X percent to sales price-tons.

It is sanctimonious hypocrisy to come down on this one member who only followed the herd.

Sellers: Build the wee little fee into your price and stop asking for f&f.

Forum: Discourage the practice of soliciting f&f.

Buyers: Just say no.

Absolutely! Buyers should state the total inclusive price, end.

In this thread, I think 2days without communication is no major thing, as people have pointed out, sellers often pack up the knife and wait for your response on arrival. Maybe not so courteous but no red flag for thread watchdogs to start baying for blood over.

Main thing, has the knife been sent yet??

Just as a preface, I prefer to use G&S when I sell. It protects the buyer, and I just give one price.

That said, if the buyer wants to use f&f, then to me that just means they are opting out of the protection that PayPal offers. So paying the fee is like buying insurance (like car rental insurance or mail insurance). My point is that "cheating" or "scamming" PayPal seems a little harsh. Again, completely on board with g&s, and have never sold through PayPal any other way. Just seems like this thread is getting a little heated.

Warning OFF TOPIC!!!!!!! I am fairly new to this forum but not new to the knife and gun cumminity at all. I don't think I've ever posted anything on here as all my questions have been answered by just a simple search which is awesome and this fourm is awesome. But insight from a newbie I would be scared to post a concern or question on this site with fear of being berated, ignored or made to feel stupid by some of these people and this is the 3rd or 4th thread I've seen like this this weekend. I'd who some of you people think you are but I think the mods need to step in and regain control of their amazing fourm.

I'd have to agree here. EVERYONE who has been on BF knows to use g/s Some choose not to. Regardless of your feelings on it why is it that every post like this ends with mudslinging from uninvolved parties? Process should be "did you use f and f? Yes? You're screwed but let's hear about this possible scammer." Instead it always turns into the SAME PEOPLE (seriously browse the GBU) Lambasting the OP and letting them know that they are the scum of the earth. Like seriously? I like BF and actually enjoy the freedoms allowed here but the self appointed PayPal Police Crew should seriously be put in check. Group therapy? Frankly it seems more like bullying.

This sub forum is a rougher part of town. Most of the other sub forums are very low drama. You(talking in general not you on your post) want to have all your ducks in a row before calling someone else out or the tables can be reversed. It's an open forum , so you are going to hear peoples opinions, sometimes wrong, sometimes very strongly stated(were all bulls behind the keyboard), and sometimes spot on . It is a bit of a wild process, but usually ends up with the right conclusions.

On the thread subject-While I certainly believe you should pay PP their fees if you use their service, It doesn't override the wrong of not getting a knife you paid for or being cheated out of your money by someone. However if PP had been paid their fees, the problem would be much easier to resolve.

Thanks danroot

You have a good point, sir. Let me say this though. This is a subforum for calling people out for "ugly" behavior. Now in this particular thread we have a member calling out another member for alleged "ugly" behavior.

It turns out that the accuser, during the transaction, also took part in some ugly behavior. There is no gray area and no debate. The member misused a payment system. It's wrong. I'm not saying it's a big deal but I'm saying it's unethical and immoral - the scale of which can be determined by the individual.

So while committing an unethical act, this member makes a thread accusing another of an unethical act. Now it doesn't matter who I think I am and I don't need to be reigned in. Just pointing out that this is an easy fix if the victim was innocent.

If he paid using the correct process he could email pp and get his money back in days. we are a society of victims and people just don't want to light to be shed on our shadiness.

It's like when you are in boot camp and the drill Sgt. Says he hates thieves. What else does he hate? An open foot locker. Stop leaving your foot locker open and then cry when something happens.

As i understand what your saying and you have made your point theres no reason to beat said person down.......he gets it
In reference to "who do you people think you are"......Im sure you have NEVER in your entire life done ANYTHING that could be brought into question.......don't foget where you came from and the mistakes youve made was my point

This community is great partially because each opinion is allowed to stand. It would be a very different community if discussions were attenuated by mods, just because they were in agreement.
If one person states the same comment 20 times, that may be beating someone down. But if 20 people state a similar opinion, that is a powerful community experience, akin to democracy.

How exactly did I cheat the seller? And as a seller I've had to deal with the nightmare that is disputes, basically they side with the seller in almost all cases even postal service loses packages. I had a decent ammount of money tied up for way too long because a buyer thought I cheated them when Their countries customs held the package for too long. They are not a good company to work with, I would not work them if it wasn't what almost every seller on just about every forum insists on it as a service.

There are a TON of sellers here (I'm one of 'em) who have been burned by buyers who claim they got an empty box, and Paypal sided with them which resulted in the sellers being out money AND the product. So, sorry, but you are incorrect with the bolded statement.

yeah, that was a typo, i meant "buyer". i am very familiar in the myriad of ways that paypal can screw over a seller.

Fair enough. Hopefully your knife will arrive to you soon.

the seller has gotten back to me, but no shipment/tracking info has been provided.

From all the red flags I would not bet on a good outcome. If it were me I would call PayPal and do everything I could to get my money back immediately. Even though you used F&F you still might have a shot.
And I hope you honestly learn from this and start using goods and services from now on. I know you said you have had bad experiences with PayPal but that should not make you compromise your morals by being dishonest. Best of Luck and if this guy does end up taking you I hope he gets a swift ban.
Again best of Luck OP
