Shame on you Jim Adams

This is how all successful knifemaker's conduct themselves. If you act like a complete loon in public, you can raise prices 25%. Dozier does it all the time... :p

Well many pages ago I said this appeared to almost be a deliberate attempt at Professional Suicide. This man is obviously quite unstable.
Whether individuals decide to entrust their money to this man is purely up to them. I know I would not.
Why his language hasn't gotten him Banned is a mystery. Hopefully he will stop this downward spiral, only damage being done now.

Kick a Dog long enough, he'll eventually turn on ya.

It is rather amusing that some of these folks spent ten pages or so picking at him, waiting for him to flip out for their own entertainment, and then act surprised and mournful when he finally does.

Not sure who has been "kicking" Mr. Adams and then acting surprised OR mournful.
I for one, have not kicked anyone nor would I ever. As for the behavior - Mr. Adams owns his. He, I assume, is a grown man. There is never an excuse for bad behavior despite the Dog analogy.
The solution to this situation is and has been simple from the beginning. I have no dog in this hunt and my only interest is in knives. The formula for this disaster was derived by both parties, where it went bad is when both had less than honest and forthright intent.
The onus AND the damage was clearly loaded on one side because as I have said before, client reputations live only in one transaction. The business owners reputation has to stand up to ALL.
If by unraveling Mr. Adams manages to foster some mutated sympathy for his actions then so be it.
The world of Knife Making will not be helped nor will it be dealt any serious blow.
Memories are short.

I can make this thread so boring no one will want to look at it. Remember to stop by my website just click on banner below.
Let us know how that works out for you....

Remember if Delwin hadn't lied to me. There would be no GBU thread.
Do you think if you say he lied to you enough times people will believe you? All we have is your word for that, and you've made it clear how much your word is worth.

More important, have you actually sent Delwin his money back? How? When?

Perhaps, now that he is obviously beat down in in good shape, it will end.

Has anyone bothered to read this thread AND the one included above before jumping to poor Mr Adams defense? It does not appear that Mr. Adams behavior is an unfortunate one time occurrence.

I may have missed it, but I haven't seen anyone defending his actions. I have exactly zero sympathy for either one of them.
As for myself, just a casual observer of the crowd mentallity, when they smell blood.

Characterizing someone as having been "beaten down" or a "beaten dog" carries with it the "flavor" of defense, if that was not the intent it doesn't change the perception. These are usually characterizations reserved for the unfairly accused.
I believe "Mob Mentality" again is a little out of place. Members of a Forum who share a common interest have a tendency to share common interest(s) as well.
Knife Makers to Knife lovers is a little like Motor Builders are to Racing.
If I saw a Motor Builder treat a racer anything like what went on here I would speak up too. Likewise if it could be PROVEN that the racer asked (with knowledge) for the builder to knowingly build something illegal or out of spec - that racer would be run out on a rail.
Nothing is anything if void of integrity.

This is all that matters now.

When was the refund sent?

How was the refund sent?

Has it been recieved?

Agreed. However, it does appear that the two(2) actors in this drama are MIA.
Perhaps due to time zones.
I for one would very much like to see this resolved and ended but to do that I believe it has to be done by Mr. Adams delivering on what he promised and Delwin acknowledging receipt.

Have any of you ever talked to Jim Adams (a.k.a. Mr. Bite Me :) ) on the phone?

I have, and I even purchased a knife from him sometime last year. It was only a few seconds into that phone call when I realized that Mr. Adams was not a stable-minded person. I chose to chance it and buy one of his knives he had up for sale anyway. The knife is well made, but it was definitely misrepresented. From all the scratch and swirl marks, it appears to have been quite well used before I received it. Anyway, I never said anything about it before, but this thread definitely cinches the noose on Jim and his knifemaking business from my point of view. The nut has definitely cracked.

Good Night Gentlemen, I have a Arkansas toothpick to finish.

While you are all busy complaining that Delwin duped you into copying another maker's design(a specious claim at best), did anyone ever point out the knife in the bottom of all your posts looks like a drop dead knockoff of Edmund Davidson work, up to an including the way the bolsters are ground, and the material choice for handle?

And...and.....after looking at your web-link, the handle on the folder you did looks EXACTLY like the Bob Terzuola ATCF. Was that on purpose, and did you get permission from Bob to copy his handle?

Just sayin'

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I wasn't defending Jim with my comment above FYI... I'm a little ticked after I preached all of this forgiveness hoopla, the SOB goes off the damn deep end.

Delwin, clearly you are "here". Not offering Legal advice. If I were you at this juncture I would copy the posts where Mr. Adams states he is sending you monies in the amount of $xxx.xx.
I would send him a letter certifed return receipt requested AND I would send a copy to the local magistrate in his county requesting a "hearing in absentia" clearly explaining the situation and asking that the matter be considered in Mr. Adams locale.
What more you can do is any ones guess.
Further, In the future my advice to you if you choose to continue in this hobby. Be very careful what you ask for, how you ask and who you ask. IF your intent was to procure a copy of an established knife makers creation at a discount then I think this thread and some of its respondents have taught you that, that behavior is frowned upon.

@KOHAI, you have a point my friend.. There is Quite a bit of similarity..

@VEG, I'm with you on the statement about the knife. Never talked to the man though. I think his actions here may have a number of people scratching their heads and second guessing an Adam's purchase.

@Rubicon, Great Advice to copy Mr. Adams' posts (Must be QUICK)

At the end of the day when all this is done, this being a community of knife enthusiasts, who here would feel comfortable every buying something from a maker who openly adimitted that he lied to a customer about shipping while keeping his money. I know I could know. The apology is all well and good but from a customer stand point that trust could never be gained again. And after seein a meltdown like this over comments made to him on an Internet forum? It's absoluely insane. Jim adams has to be a pen name for Charlie sheen right?
