Shame on you Jim Adams

I'll tell you what really bugs me about this whole situation is that I feel he tried to get away with this because you are from a different country and you have no way to fight it.

I think that he thought, "this guy is half way around the world and doesn't speak that great of English, I'll just tell him that I sent the knife and it got caught up in customs....and I'll keep his money".

Such a scumbag.

I am a chinese, this type of knife shape can be seen in most of our wet market. Did i say that i need him to copy other's design?? Why cant he as a maker advise me of something different??
Also i do even got to see the final product, then do you think i am happy with it?? So shall i need to claim that all the makers out there had to stick to their very own design and should not copy others?? Then why still there are makers making japanese knife?? Why there are so many makers still making bowie?? Please tell me. Or you can show me all the knife you have collected.

I have been reading this thread, and have been wondering the same thing that Guyon had been asking repeatedly. I realize now that it is a cultural difference.

Companies will contract out manufacturing to Chinese companies, then cease the contract, only to have the manufacturing company continue to make their product, and sell the "knock offs" Copyrights have less value than TP in China, and ripping off designs is culturally accpetable there (possibly even encouraged, like computer hacking and electronic theft from the West in Eastern Europe and Russia).

ursamajor nice of you to contribute to the thread

I think Jim has been punished hard enough (unless he apologized by making me a knife as a gift)
Ha ha.... I think as a knife maker, it is hard to got his name tarnished, this punishment is heavy. Hope he learn from the mistake and move forward.
I believe Delwin wants to put this behind him and move on. A noble gesture- out of respect for him we should abide by his wishes and let this die.

That's what I got out of it also.

i just did a search for jim adams and found out he is lying about where he lives at on another forum. i am notifying the website owner on one of the sites to let him know about this thread and to let him know he lied about his location.

My guess (and it is just a guess) Jim Adams was pressured into "Doing the right thing" because of the pressure received here in this thread and purchased a Valid MO, when it continued it's down hill decent despite his "Noble Efforts" his anger get the better of him and he canceled the MO. My impression is that he is feeling like the victim in this situation and will never see the light.

Another thing I wanted to address is that Delwin is not in China, he is in Singapore. they are two different countries/cultures. Singapore is a huge business hub, and not the same when it comes to Copyright infringement. Yes there are a lot of knock offs to be had in Singapore but it is a frowned on practice and has been enforced legally.

IMO, it is Exactly this type of vigilance that will finally run Adams out on a rail.
Discussion is what we do on a Forum but, this type of active follow-up is what gets rid of Adams and anybody "like" Adams.

I think if Delwin is satisfied with things to this point, who am I to argue. He was the injured party after all.

Delwin does have the right to not be bugged, he was the injured party AND it was his thread BUT, IF everyone who was ever wronged was able to simply end the action by saying - "Nevermind", very few would ever be brought to justice.
Our entire law enforcement and judicial system would be shrunk down to whatever would be needed to pursue the few that would be "authorized" by the victim(s).
Doesn't work that way.
IMO, the Forum community has skin in this game because of the need to self-police its members AND especially those that hold themselves up as the Professionals within that community (the Knife Makers, Manufacturers, etc.) if for no other reason than to protect the unsuspecting "next victim".
Adams, as an example continued behavior shows that he has learned nothing by this unfortunate situation. This wasn't an anomaly, a mistake. His pattern of deceit continues and proves he is unworthy of a place at this table.
Why would we as a community look at it any other way?

Well said. I couldn't agree more.

Wow, I am feeling the love.

Although, I apologize, I was reading this thread from the start, and didn't get all the way to part where the ass-hatedness of Mr. Adams was shown in it's entirety. At the end of the day, Delwin adhered to his end of the bargain by putting up his money, and Jimbo didn't.

You're more forgiving than I would be,Delwin.IMHO,Everyone should be held accountable for their actions, especially when those actions involve theft & deceit.

I could not agree more with this statement. It would be one thing if his banishment from this site meant that no one else would be taken by unsavory tactics but I am sure that he has moved on to other sites where people do not know what path he has chosen to take with his craft.

if he ripped you off, dont let him get away with it. that will only let him continue to rip people off elsewhere.

Delwin, It sounds to me like the M.O. was a scam to shut you up.
Turn your info into these people: https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/
The take mail fraud very seriously. Maybe if mr.adams get put in jail, he wont be able to scam others from there.

I have to agree Delwin. It appears to me that Jim Adams bought a MO and then cancelled it after taking some pictures of it to show this forum. Money Orders can be cancelled and redeemed by the purchaser any time before the recipient cashes it, and that's what appears to have happened in your situation. Definitely take this up with our postal inspectors, mail fraud is a Federal offense and there are severe consequences if they decide to prosecute him.
