Sorry guys for the late update.
I have received the MO on my birthday 25March.
I went to my nearest western union to check it out. Supposely MO can claim the money right away. But the agent told me that i need to wait for another 21 days cos they dont have any record of it. Guess i still need to wait again.
 
Delwin: Was this a Western Union money order, or was it from another business?

I'd like to think, even in his final bitter sendoff, he completed this transaction legitimate.

The money order that Adams posted photos of had a Western Union logo/heading.

Western Union and MoneyGram MO's are some of the most popular one's to counterfeit. They are used all the time in Craigslist / Nigerian internet scams. Seen tons of 'em. Not saying that it's the case in this instance, but why the 21 day wait? Can anyone chime in on this one? It would be really dumb for him to pull a stunt like this, given the 34 pages of documentation that would be easily preserved by the mods for LE to use as evidence against him. It's really unfortunate that things like this happen, even in the smallest of "communities". Hope you get the funds squared away and this can be laid to rest...like Adam's business...
 
Can't Western Union verify it's own Money orders by running the serial number? I would certainly push the "21 day wait" as that seems really strange to me.

I always thought the change from paper (WU MOney Order) to cash was close to instantaneous when presented at one of their outlets???????

What does it tell you? You need to fill in the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).

We're all rooting for this to end well. I'm actually impressed and still encouraged the MO was mailed. There may very well be a fraud-check timeout, but that seems screwy....

I went to one of my nearest WU outlet to cash out the money. As from my past experiences, i can instantly take the money.
But this time, i was told that they dont have record of the MO number. They have to sent it back to USA to check before i can have the money. Never been so troublesome before.
Dont know what to say, but i am really disappointed with Jim. Lucky Chuck, made me a wonderful knife, that brighten me up abit. I will take it as a birthday present i got for myself:)
As for the money, if it i can get it, then it will be good. But if i dont get it, i will just let this matter rest, at the most, this guy Jim only cost $400 cheapo.
 
Doesn't look good. I don't know the workings of Western Union, but it smells of a refunded and now-deleted M.O. to me. From their end, exactly how it should be handled: No number--no money.

If that's the case the only thing Delwin can do is change the title to read:

Jim Adams Liar and Thief.

So if anyone Googles Jim Adams with any luck the first thing they will see is Liar and Thief.

Even if you don’t think it’s right if you can help 1 new Buyer avoid this mess it’s worth the effort.

I gotta think Adams has now potentially broken some serious laws. IF he did what it looks like he did, when you get into messing with financial instruments and involve the USPS - this is in a different league than just being a DB.

I gotta think if the guy had the know how to photoshop blurred pics , he could have faked a photo of a M.O.

Please don't tell me you actually handed over the M.O. to someone. The only thing they need are the numbers on the M.O. If someone told you to give it to me so I can "send" it back to the U.S., you may have made a huge mistake.

It is given to my bank with my details written on the back. My bank will handle this issue cos WU can't find the matching number that is printed on the money order. Just let this matter rest be it I got the money or not. Maybe it is just my bad luck.
 
How can this matter be put to rest, no legitimate re-payment seems to have been made (yet)?
This thread will probably stay on top until such time as you get payment or Jim Adams gets punished somehow.............................
 
I think Jim has been punished hard enough (unless he apologised by making me a knife as a gift):rolleyes:
Ha ha.... i think as a knife maker, it is hard to got his name tarnished, this punishment is heavy. Hope he learn from the mistake and move forward.
 
Not near finished with yet, wrong must be turned into a right !.

(i've been watching this, not time to give up yet).
