Shame on you Jim Adams

^Fair enough elkins.Like I said,I don't know why some makers require deposits when there aren't any exotic materials involved.I can't say I entirely disagree with it either.
I don't know how many times someone has ordered a knife from them, then backed out when it was time to pay. It's gotta be frustrating, but like you said it can't be very hard for them to sell that same knife to someone else, unless it had really crazy dimensions(5" handle 2" blade, serrated with a guthook:D).

You know, that's a fairly good point about unusual designs. I suppose if I were a maker I would want a pretty fair deposit from people who request something that would be difficult to sell if the buyer flaked out.

There are no way that Jim will return my money, that's for sure.
I just hope that this thread will make sticky, so others can be aware of such maker inccident.

Call me the eternal optomist but, I still hold out hope not because of faith in Man. Got Faith in more than that.
We will know more toward the end of the month. Long time to wait but it's been a long time already.
As for how my tone regarding Adams, is perceived - I don't know what to say about that. All I want to see is Delwins Money returned to him.

He sent me a drawing. I redrew it in Photoshop. I looked I don't have the orginal drawing, that was two computer crashes ago. I basically traced what he had.

Remember if Delwin hadn't lied to me. There would be no GBU thread.

did anyone notice the "sketch" that was sent in wasn't the original drawing by delwin. it was modified by jim. possibly to look more like a design theft. jim can't find the original?? that's convenient.

darrel ralph is notoriously slow, but his communication is excellent. at least in my experience.

every time ive called his shop he has either answered or called right back. heck, he gave me a cell number.

Everything is coming together now....

I think that Jim ripped off the design based on a description from Delwin, and when the parts supplier pointed it out, at that point Jim decided to blame it on Delwin.

Stealing the money was just an afterthought.

Yep, this is the conclusion that I drew as well.

Are you saying you received a certified letter from Jim Adams?

Will my badge be included with the letter, or is it being sent separately?

"Supposedly" mailed on 3/9. 2-3 weeks to arrive would put it at 3/23-3/30.

Time will tell. Of course no tracking was provided so Adams set the stage for "Lost" or "Stolen".
I'm not holding my breath.

well I'd like to thank everyone involved in this thread for keeping me up all night reading. I haven't been so glued to any form of writing ever ;) I can honestly say i've never read a thread this long, or this wild.

Most importantly, I really hope you get your money soon Delwin!

On a side note i have a question regarding BF policy. I completely understand this Jim Adams was a rare and extenuating circumstance. I've also dealt with someone who lied about sending me a knife, then lied about returning the money, and coincidentally also made up an alias here on BF to defend himself.

I eventually had my money returned, but i think part of the reason why the refund was successful was because of his consistent activity in the GB&U thread i create. He has since been banned, but not before refunding my money. Again, I know Jim Adams kind of flipped his lid (or whatever phrase means, went crazy) but even so, I would think maintaining one more route of accessibility could only benefit Delwin.

Also, this thread has lost some of it's magic since he's been banned ;) (ok that's a joke, kind of)

 Our boy has a post up with a pic of one of his recently finished knives on The High Road.

The thread is "Small paring knife I just finished."

At your service . . . .

Delwin: Last Activity: Today 08:06 AM

If Delwin does in fact receive that MO, I hope that he let's everyone know.

I'm sure he will. He probably knows several of us check this thread to see if Jim was just spinning another yarn or if he really had any intention of refunding Delwin's money.
