Today's shave:
Cream: The Shave Den, Bamboo & Teak
Razor: 30's/40's fat handled tech razor
Blade: old Dorco blade (7th shave), 7am Platinum Hi-Stainless, and a Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum
Brush: Shea Moisture badger brush
Prep: hot shower
Post: The Shave Den aftershave milk, Gucci por Homme type
I tried a 7am blade first this morning after lathering up with the TSD shaving cream. The cream is not nearly as slick as my TGQ creams, but sadly Colleen is out of business indefinitely, so I'm using what I have. It's not bad, but it's not as slick as I like. I started with a Dorco blade that was on its 7th shave, and I could tell after one pass that it was done, so I chucked it. I switched to a new 7am Platinum Hi-Stainless blade, and it pulled even worse, painfully even! One pass was all it got as well. This was the 2nd blade in the pack that I tried, and it was the same as the first blade -- TERRIBLE! It felt as if it was so dull that it was trying to pull my hairs out instead of cut them. I chucked it also and switched to a Gillette 7 O'clock and it performed exactly as I expected. Nice clean shave, but I made one too many passes and ended up with some razor burn. Fortunately, the TSD aftershave milk that I use took care of the burn.
