Prep: Just some hot water on the face, didn't shower today
Razor: Vintage Gillette Knack with Merkur Platinum blade
Brush: Bodyshop synthetic shaving brush
Cream: Bodyshop Maca Root shaving cream
Mug: Old steel mug I found in the attic
Aftershave: Glacier splash, some aftershave balsam after the splash evaporated

BBS, but I got quite a bit of nicks and irritation on my neck from overdoing the passes.

Hot face flannel after shower, this really perks up the bristles.

Omega Boar. A recent buy, good quality and inexpensive, forgot that boar sheds though.... maybe it will stop? Whips up the cream very well though.

Merkur 41 Open Comb mated to a Feather.

Back to Taylor of Old Bond St after using and being impressed by Cella from Italy. The Lavender cream is really slippery stuff and I like the smell too.

Very close wound free shave. Taken years off me :D( I wish)

Today's shave:
Cream: The Shave Den, Bamboo & Teak
Razor: 30's/40's fat handled tech razor
Blade: old Dorco blade (7th shave), 7am Platinum Hi-Stainless, and a Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum
Brush: Shea Moisture badger brush
Prep: hot shower
Post: The Shave Den aftershave milk, Gucci por Homme type

I tried a 7am blade first this morning after lathering up with the TSD shaving cream. The cream is not nearly as slick as my TGQ creams, but sadly Colleen is out of business indefinitely, so I'm using what I have. It's not bad, but it's not as slick as I like. I started with a Dorco blade that was on its 7th shave, and I could tell after one pass that it was done, so I chucked it. I switched to a new 7am Platinum Hi-Stainless blade, and it pulled even worse, painfully even! One pass was all it got as well. This was the 2nd blade in the pack that I tried, and it was the same as the first blade -- TERRIBLE! It felt as if it was so dull that it was trying to pull my hairs out instead of cut them. I chucked it also and switched to a Gillette 7 O'clock and it performed exactly as I expected. Nice clean shave, but I made one too many passes and ended up with some razor burn. Fortunately, the TSD aftershave milk that I use took care of the burn.

Nothing fancy. Today I shaved with this. Sometimes on the go quick shave with the clippers and I don't even need a mirror if I'm keeping it scruffy. Boar brush hiding in bag. DOH!

Thought this was related.. Check out these mechanical clippers passed down to a 3rd generation barber. Can you feel the arthritis?

Nice! My grandfather was a barber. His shop was knocked down when they built the U.N. buildings in NYC.

They belonged to my aunt-in-law's grandfather. Tragic to hear about his shop. If only my resentment for the U.N. could get any worse...

On the road today so here's my travel setup.

That's a nice set-up! The Rolls looks pristine, how do you like the Omega? I hear it's similar to Proraso.

Thanks. Except for the strope leather which has a small divot out of the center, it is pretty much like new.

I haven't tried the Proraso soap but I like the Omega. It's easy to work up a lather with it, it doesn't dry out and it lubricates fairly well.

It's been 15 years since I last used a straight, not my best shave ever today, but a definite success.
