Shave of the day?

DSCN0411.jpg

I am still waiting on my New Standard to arrive:( but I can' not shave till it shows up so today I broke out the Rocket Flare Tip, Proraso Green, and Super Badger brush and cleaned up my face. Some times I just love the gentle shave from a mild razor and today was one of those days. I don't understand why some people think you can't get a close shave with a mild razor, maybe its because they don't feel like they are doing much or that they take an extra pass or two to get there. I had a near BBS shave with zero irritation and no sting from the Old Spice aftershave, who could ask for more:thumbup: Don't get me wrong I like my Slim set to 8, Red Tip and Aristocrat just as much and use them more often but the milds are a nice change from the regular.

Hi,

My shave today:

1 1/2 minute hot shower
2 1/2 hour fire call
15 minute reshower
Left boar brush soaking in water the whole time
Soap: Remelted VDH Deluxe poured into remilled William's.
Crystal blade
Old Spice Classic

The mix of VDH and William's is much better than it's parts. I wasn't able to get a really decent bowl lather, but when I tried face lathering, it produced a very nice rich lather that was very protective against the blade. I'm going to put this through a serious test of time.

Understated, simple and very elegant. Fine head on that Badger:thumbup::cool:

No shave today, saving it for a close one on the morrow.

Thanks. The brush is an overstuffed short loft silvertip badger from The Golden Nib. It is as good or better than some brushes I have that cost 4x as much. It's a joy to use. The John Holler is a great shaver too.

Not really a "shave of the day", but I recently took a page form the book of Gollnick and found a site where I could order DE blades in bulk... kinda. 350 blades should be on their way soon, almost a third of the price I would pay locally!
