Coop,

When the beauty of the sheath equals the beauty of the knife you have something very special and these definitely do.

Thanks for sharing.

Great thread, Kevin. Some just out-of-sight, out-of-mind sheaths on here.

Here are a few I have.

Scott does some great work.

Russ' python insert had been with him since Vietnam days.

Paul and I talked Don out of some extra steel for this one.

This goes back a few, one of John's first 'big' blades. But, I have always loved what Kenny Rowe did with it (elephant).

Larry Fuegen Hardware and Software:
I keep coming back to to this one.
The design, the symmetry, the execution… amazing.
I don't know if you have to try to carve a sheath to appreciate this. I've tried and boy howdy that is really something.
I mean, as a BC (Before Computer) graphic artist I can appreciate the talent it takes to draw that so well, much less carve it.

Hey man, I'm serious....it's impressive.

I tried stitching up a sheath once, got nice clean markings and punch holes, and bled all over the imitation sinew after about an hour....popped blisters, and gave up.

My soft little girly hands are simply not tough enough to handle the work.:grumpy:

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I wear gloves ;)

Beautiful sheaths in this thread! Fantastic!

My personal favorite from my own collection is this rather unusual little neck-sheath made by Gudy Van Poppel:

If I remember correctly the wood is Amboyna burl.

Kind regards,

Jos

Thank you Kevin.
It looks so easy in the tutorial ;)

I've only carved a couple.
Thought this was fun, that is if you know your old TV westerns :)

As I stated in my opening post, I'm amazed at how some very talented knife makers are also very talented sheath makers.
I wanted to call out two more, being John Horrigan and Terry Vandeventer.

John Horrigan- 2011 CKCA Mini-Show offering:

My favorite is this, the only knife of mine as of yet to get Paul Long britches. The big one on the right. On the left is a Ban Tang knife that went to the same customer, also a very nice little sheath...

I love this one. Maybe my all-time favorite. Thanks for posting it, Kevin!

Here are a couple of interesting ones. . .

Note the array of tiny trumpets in the sheath, blowing their tribute to the collector, Larry Bailey.

Note the way that the inlay in the sheath perfectly follows the blacklip pearl inlay in the handle. A masterpiece by the great Paul Long.

Wow... this page has just blown my mind.

That Sfreddo piece is too much and then the WIP posted by Kevin.

And finally that Jay Hendrickson piece... Man oh man...
