@KM013070, if I bought a knife from you that had no issues, but I messed it up because I tried to take it apart, you’re saying that you’d give me a refund for my mistake??

I don’t understand how you’re not seeing that what you’re trying to pull is wrong.

It is amazing me that he doesn’t, or doesn’t want to, see what he is doing here.
Not sure if 50 more analogies will open his eyes.
You buy a car, want to change the rims, you slit 2 tires doing the switch and want to return the car because the tires didn’t fit correctly.
Come on dude.
Drop the claim and save some of your reputation here. The knife is yours......period.

I'm just seeing an entitlement mentality here, and trying to lay fault at somebody else's feet for screwing up. Bottom line, there was zero reason to take the knife apart that had to do with the knife's performance. You are a textbook example of the Dunning-Kruger effect. You already knew everything there was to know so there was no reason to research further or reach out to people who knew what they were doing. Now you're trying to say you could damage a knife the same way by putting it in your pocket? It doesn't matter, you still damaged the knife. Only now you're trying in some twisted way to equate daily wear and tear with using a tool wholly unsuited to the task. Sorry, I don't see the "$300" Shiro tool doing that. BTW, pro tip: painters tape.

The only thing I'm seeing accomplished here is a man completely unwilling to admit to his mistakes and more willing to lose all credibility on this forum. Well done, and congratulations.

Just talked to buyer. Seems the claim is moving forward. He was willing to accept an offer of 500 dollars that i offered last night . i just don’t think i can fix this for 75 Dollars? I guess I’ll leave it to the PayPal gods

Don’t lay down and give in to this bull shit caused by an entitled & spoiled brat.
Call PP and get a supervisor on the line. Be cordial, but don’t give up. This has happened before here recently and the seller came out on top.
I’m almost pissed that you offered to take that knife back and refund him $500.......and the whiny bitch refused it??? Balls.
He does not deserve anything more from you.
Not many on my ignore list, but he’ll be on mine.
Joe

Sorry reading back through emails he said he would take what I said back to PayPal. I took that as a rejection of the offer as he simply did not accept. I don't want my words to get messed up

S sliceofknife410 This simply blows my mind. You need to explain to PP that this clown tried to disassemble something he had no business disassembling. Ask if they would refund for a laptop that somebody took apart, or a quadcopter. You need to educate the person on the other end, as nicely but firmly as possible as to why this is different from a kitchen knife. Why this voids the warranty for many makers, and supply links if possible. Many makers say why they don't want their knives taken apart. Heck, show them photos of new Shiros with the bear sticker over the pivot! He damaged the product, and now you're going on his word that he didn't take it apart and do further damage to it.

You've got plenty of ammo, you need to use it all. He was trying to sell the knife. If it was "damaged" that sort of kills his argument right there - or he's lying. It also seems to me he implied he really likes his Hati more, I have a strange feeling he also got some buyer's remorse and would do anything to get his money back.
  1. Approx. 30 days after purchase He tried to disassemble it not because it wasn't working, but he felt like putting a lanyard on - in doing so he damaged the product
  2. He wasn't educated as to how to disassemble the product, you simply pointed him to one possible solution. I imagine he'd tear into the fuel injection of a BMW with the same gusto? Not all Shiros are the same, you can't compare a Hati (3 bear? 2 bear?) to a Neon.
  3. Shirogorov puts thread lock on their pivots for a reason. That's why it's called thread lock. They also put a blue bear sticker on the pivot of new knives so you know it hasn't been screwed with!
  4. He tried to sell the knife as only having minor "snail trails" (A LIE), and was perfectly good. He had to admit to one person he had problems taking it apart - and panicked that he not only damaged the knife, but couldn't sell it for full price - he claims because he couldn't take it apart.
  5. He then files a complaint because he didn't educate himself with an exotic product, implies he really likes another knife better anyway (hmmmm) and wants to be fully refunded for damaging the product.

There's plenty more examples. Most manufacturers would consider a lanyard a modification (or attempted modification) of a knife. You simply DO NOT need to take a knife apart to put a lanyard on. There's plenty of tips and tricks for tight lanyard holes for 550 paracord. Again, patience and research, which this guy seems to be in short supply of.

I really hope you resolve this to your satisfaction. I know everybody here is going to give this clown a wide berth, and I'll make sure all the youtube reviewers I know are aware of what he's pulling. Again, I think you've got far more ammo against him, but you'll need to organize your thoughts and try to talk to somebody with half a brain (I know, tough) at PP. Best of luck, we're pulling for you.

I am the buyer. This is my first time having an issue with an item purchased through BF and hope I'm posting this reply in the correct place. It was my intro into the Shiro brand and was initially pleased how it lived up to the hype. I then purchased A Hati from a different BF member to add to the collection. I wanted to put lanyards on both Shiro's so I started with the Hati first. Everything went perfect from pivot removal to reassemble. But when attempting it on the Neon, the pivot would just spin and not loosen. In liking the Hati size better I decided to sell the Neon and look for another Hati. During this time I was combing BF for ideas on how to solve the pivot issue so my buyer would not have the same issue. Many seemed too severe and I was not willing to take that chance. A video suggested using the heat from a hairdryer which seemed the least invasive. It didn't work. As emails started coming in from members considering to purchase I disclosed to them the seized pivot. Not one person was willing to purchase knowing this. I contacted the seller and removed the sale to not waste other members time. He was kind enough to provide a link of a possible solution but it doesn't work on the backspacer version. At this point I felt contacting PP was the best solution. Now yes, I did mark the scale in an attempt to free the pivot (easy to do in this situation). I was willing to sell it for less because of that. But not resell it with a seized pivot. Let's be open here, a knifenut doesn't buy something at this level as a "need" purchase. It is purely a "want" purchase. And I would think most people would want it to fully function flawlessly. Also where catch, release, trade, etc is a real aspect of BF, items with issue/s can have a negative effect on the pre-owned market.
Once you started screwing with the knife, at that point you can't ask a seller to buy it back!!! What is it about this simple concept do you not understand ?

I've messed up knives trying to take them apart before. Sucks, doesn't it? You know what I did? Sold them at a massive discount with all the issues and subsequent damage disclosed. People would still buy the Neon as a user for maybe $450 or so.

I really hope S sliceofknife410 wins this.

If Paypal favors the buyer in this case, it would be quite difficult to sell anything here through Paypal.

@KM013070 sounds like another wealthy teenager getting used too much to the "full-refund no question asked" policy of Target and likes.
I am sure that there are more of these Target kids on this forum buying tons of high-end knives.
Once they learn this trick works.......
