Shot Show 2018

Techno 2 looks very fun
Mantra 3 is also a good surprise even if I am no fan of s30v at spyderco, I would have jumped on it shall it have been in s110v

I didn't pay too much attention to BM before since I am kinda meh about the Axis Lock but that Vector looks like it's in my wheelhouse.

...Mantra 3 - went to a worse steel and the blade looks messed up(though I can't put my finger on it)
Amalgam - Too large and sal said it had a weak detent
clipitool - nah, too much of a compromise

It's the diagonal plunge and the area beneath the hole. It gives the blade the same profile as people with flabby neck skin. Where there's no contour, it just goes straight down from chin to chest.

I own more Spydercos then any other knife brand, but I’m a little “meh” this year. I don’t care for any of the new offerings. I do like a few new ones from Benchmade though..I might be converting..I still can’t put down the Mini Crooked River :) Who knew the Axis Lock was so much fun haha

Whoa you cut that tree in half with a benchmade! Ill have to get one :)

Also am I the only one both saddend and annoyed by the CRKT Video/Lineup? So many decent designs so far behind with materials and how much wrist the apparently need to properly deploy it seems :(

Yes and no. I agree that they've got a lot of great designs, but I still expect CRKT to be on the left side of the bell curve, so I wouldn' say I'm disappointed.

Okay, the weird entry I might have to pick up is the Gerber Kettle Bell. I generally hear Garbage instead of Gerber, and 7cr steel doesn't exactly excite, but I like the design and if I can snag one for under $20 it might get added as a neat little cheapo beater.

which to me is weird. who wants a 3.25" folding dagger?
guess those who live in non free cities, states, and countries. some of those places have no dagger rules too besides blade lengths.

so small just looks and seems silly to me. i get others like tiny folders....im just not one of them.

I would prefer a Super Maximus Decimus 3.75"+ bayonet grind, like my Boker AFD!

I have to say some of their new stuff is intriguing. I will lump Ontario and SOG in that category as well. Really impressed with some of the new Pro-techs.

I like some of the spyderco lineup.

Watching the knife news vids kinda felt like scratching lotto tickets. Waiting for the blade of a new model to be flipped open..

Just watched the Blade HQ Gerber video.
I like some designs, the small fixed blades & kettelbell but as long as they are only offered in 7cr steel I'll pass.
Life is too short for for subpar steel.

Man the handle on that Rassenti looks just like the one for the Nirvana 2.0, really slim and nice... But I'm not digging the blade profile off the bat.

Oh, gosh, I agree. I like this handle better but I'm not feeling that blade. Still ...

I watched a video about CRKT's releases. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with CRKT. I think that, generally speaking, their quality is crap. On the other hand, they seem uncommonly willing to put out those mechanically-odd collaborations that I adore. Sometimes when your only choice is between the $30 collab and the $600 custom, you welcome the crappy $30 knife.

They seem to be doubling down on the Field Strip mechanism, even though I have heard some poor reviews. They introduced 4-5 new Field Strip knives and talked about a "Field Strip 2.0." I wonder if that could become a way for them to separate themselves from the junk knife herd?

The Field Strip thing is a Ken Onion invention, and he still wields enormous influence over CRKT.
