Show me your custom camp knife/chopper.

^^^ Cool! Though we're surely into machete territory there. Let us know how it feels in hand and how it works in the bush when you can.

It's 01 tool steel and the saw actually works. It's also a heavy mofo. The Grunt has competition though, here's my Sinister Chopper II I got from BRT Bladeworks earlier this week.

Awesome! Its good to see that thing buried in a piece of wood!

Well I think the blade being 3/16th makes it more of a chopper than a machete ;)

This thread is awesome. Thanks for all of the pictures. It has taken a few days to get through them, but it was well worth it.

Thanks! For theno sheath infofor you'll hafta talk to Ben for that. It carries very well , that I know! It's very well made and hugs the knife nicely, I have no fear of this knife coming out of my possession.

The sheath is 9oz veg tan leather hand made by me, I don't claim to be sheathmaker, it's nice to hear positive feedback on them though.
I do all the work on my knives from cutting, to grinding,to heat treat, to mosaic pins, and sheaths.

Last year, a relative gave me an old sawmill blade and asked if I could make him some kind of knife to use for clearing brush etc. This is what I came up with.

Forged from a section of old rusty sawmill blade
Old Canvas Micarta (circa early 60's)
Stainless Bolts and Thong Tube
OAL - 14 1/2
Blade Tip to Handle - 9 3/4"

This thread rocks!

I started this thread almost two years ago. I never thought it would still be active but I am really glad it is. There are some great knives posted here by many talented makers. I hope this goes for two more years.
