Show me your custom camp knife/chopper.

Picked this Dawson G3 "Lone Star Bowie" up at the Big Reno Gun Show a few weeks ago...5160/black micarta...

A nice big knife with a handle for big hands (feels even better with gloves on)...

Here is my personal Bowie/Cutter, 15" overall, 10" x 2" blade, 3/8" at spine, Curly Maple & Blued guard-

The 2nd knife down from the top is a "custom camp knife" variant of a Randall Model 3 (7" wide blade). It was made just post WWII at a time that:

1. Bo would make a knife "your way".

2. The demand for Randall knives had fallen off a cliff after the end of WWII. Bo had let go of all his WWII help with the one exception of an English trainer cutler named Bill Platts. Things were so bad that Bo brought in brass polishing work just to keep Bill busy. The majority of knives that came out of the shop for several years after the war were made 100% by Bill as opposed to the Randall norm of one guy forging, another guy grinding, another guy assembling and another guy polishing. Bill went on to become the Randall shop supervisor and foreman into the 60's.
