That is absolutely gorgeous!

Greg, you had to mention The Sunfish Man. I just went to his site and OMG! The blue damascus sunfish is out of this world.

Thanks for all the pics guys. I will have to pick one up soon.
There is a nice one on the auction site that is supposed to be a 1940s case for a buy it now of $950.00. :eek:I don't think it will be that one.

Does anyone actually carry and use these patterns? I always see them in pristine condition and wondered if they were more collectibles then users.

I do. My Sunfish is a 4-inch closed Winchester 45/70 pattern. I like the knife a lot. It is not so big and heavy that the thing requires one to wear both suspenders and a belt in order to pocket the thing, as larger specimens of this pattern can, especially if they have bone handle scales. In fact, the knife carries like " a Canoe on steroids" with its "flat" one-spring pocket signature. Once the knife is out of the pocket it really shows its advantages. Even with its "small" 4-inch handle it affords a good grip, its Queen-fashioned 1095 carbon steel blades cut like crazy, and the knife's robust design, strong spring, and fine fit and finish make the knife " horse high, bull strong, and hog tight".

Some Case Classics.
Not the best picture since I took it well over 10 years ago. :D.

Here's my only one, a Bulldog USA sleeveboard at 4-1/2" closed, in ram's horn.

This one displays beautifully, but unfortunately it has a bad blade rub on the pile side of the master near the tip--it actually rubs the tang of the secondary spey blade. Also, the master blade has the hardest pull of any knife I have ever handled. Even oiled up, it makes every GEC of mine seem tame!

George, I really like your two double-bladed Case models!

I picked this one up at Blade a few years back:

And, a couple of early pieces from Don with his talented wife's (Tina) scrimshaw:

If I could I would collect many and make a nice display case. Toe nails are just begging to be displayed. Too bad they go at a premium price.....

I'm surprised at how popular they seem to be. They are large and seemingly clumsy(much like me) so I wasn't sure how other people saw them.
I'm glad to see there are others that like them.

I remember reading Pogo comic strip collections when I was a kid and seeing those characters whittling with a short, wide pocket knife. When I discovered many years later that there really was such a knife and it wasn't just a comic strip caricature, I had to have one. You can see what happened next. :D
