stezann It's a jigged bone that RR makes to look like Armour, they do it on a number of patterns and I find it very effective, like you, I live in Europe so you can get them here no problem, inexpensive too.

Here's a great little RR three spring canoe lockback whittler. It's a touch over 3 inches so the three spring width works well in the hand.
I love the nice wide coping blade.

Here is a Camillus reworked by Santa Fe Stoneworks, I purchased it in the early '90s or late '80s. My only traditional lockback...so far!
