Show-n-Tell Time - Moose/Eq End Trapper/Muskrat!

Is it a Moose, or is it a PEN:confused: ? Is the Pen mightier than the Moose:eek: ?? Maybe it's a Moose in a pen;) ?? Kaboom-tshhh(drum-cymbal):D :D
Hey, Amos is supposed to be doing this! Where are you Amos?? Errrrr - - -Oh yeah eloquence, not jokes; sorry!

Queen Classic modified muskrat with some old Winterbottom bone scales found in the warehouse. Those are not chips in the primary blade, just bad photography. That little spot in the corner of the bottom bolster is a self-portrait of yours truly. Thanks to VCM3 for tipping me off about this one, Bill at Cumberland for the knife, and the old lady who drives the mail jeep for the delivery today.

Don't know about this one then . It is larger than a pen but not quite a moose. A sleeveboard moose maybe. It is 4 inches long and made for the Army & Navy dept store likely late 1800s or very early 1900s.

Maybe it's a poose? Or a meese?

Jokes aside:
s-k, you continue to amaze me with all of these truly fantastic old slip-joints you keep showing here.
Where on earth do you manage do them all up?

Thank-you very much Karl for your kind feedback. Old sleeveboard "poose" knife. i think you have just invented a new knife term. Here is the other side of this knife for you.

I'm having electrical problems where my system is so I'm having to use the wife's computer. Time is limited as we share.

But, I will offer this. Perhaps is a moose you could write home with. Or, maybe its a pen knife a moose would use to sharpen the quill he snatched from the goose that he is going to use to write home with.

It loose usable so either way it doesn't look like it would be mooseless!

Later,
Amos

Hi Amos. It is nothing to write home about, even with a goose quill. But the knife is definitely NOT mooseless, nor is it bored (sorry). And you could poose (new term from karl) it to IRON your shirt sleeves, if you have the will. I am a terrible poet and I am well aware of it

Don't know about this one then . It is larger than a pen but not quite a moose.

It's actually a jumbo sleeve board pen, commonly referred to as a "jumbo". Does it have any other markings on it? Some with that tang stamp have a makers mark on them.
Here is a recent example of this pattern, the Case/Winchester 62091, from the Case Classics series by Bluegrass Cutlery.

So, here are a couple equal ends by various makers-

Last but not least, a very old (ca1920) moose marked Miller Bros Meriden

That Miller Bros. looks in nice condition, Arathol! Nice bunch, but the old ones are always special for me!

Those are very, very nice knives, Arathol!
I particularly like the Miller Bros. It's got that something extra.

Beautiful knives arathol. Thanks for the clarification on the Jumbo Sleeveboard Pen. Unfortunately, there is no makers mark on mine. The army & navy is on the other side of the smaller blade tang and that is it.

Wow Arathol, those are some real beauties you got there my favorite would be the Case XX but I would not turn down a single one if you plan on sending me one or two...:D ;)

Old Schrade Muskrat.

Just been scanned, apologies for the pic, but you get the idea.
I love the 'Improved Muskrat ' on the shield.

Karl,

thanks, this was a very lucky find.

it was in a very bad state when I got it... but I just gave it a wash in hot water and rubbed it with lots of paper towels and this is what was underneath it all.

nice bone, nice brass pins and liners, nice carbon blades.

;)

I wonder if my extension cords will reach Texas??
I'd like to help, Amos, but I think we'd get a voltage drop!

While this thread is back up here, I came across this guy in my safe, a little older one, it's a Schrade Cut. Co.
It's from pre-WWII, and near mint!

Waynorth, you almost made me pee my pants from excitement over that Schrade.
THAT is just sooooo beautiful!!!!!!
Boy oh boy but do I like the old style knives.

What size is that?
I looks kind of chunky in the picture.
