Sugarleaf,

those covers on your antique yellow scout are amazing. I really wish gec were more consistent on the antique yellow bone. my crown lifter was a far cry from either your scout or your crown lifter. I had to send it back as there was bone damage on both sides around the pins.......so maybe they will replace with a better example.

Yeah, the last run of crownlifters seemed a little hit or miss on the dye jobs. A friend got one that was a little spotty looking and he sold it as a result. I was lucky to get one with a nice consistent dye job...

Hello,
The versions of this knife with the clipped off tip are meant to prevent accidental stabbing ?

They were originally designed to be opened with one hand. Back during the Civil War Era, there were many amputees. This design allowed the owner to open the knife by hooking it on your jeans pocket, or the edge of a bench.

Yeah. I like the #15 in general, but those long pull clip points with smooth bone look special. Congrats.

Does anyone have a picture of an original civil war "one arm" pocket knife? I can't find one anywhere.

Thanks, guys! That #15 was one of my first traditionals once I started getting back into the slippies a few years ago.

And another (sorry, I've posted this before. I just don't get tired of looking at it or the fine detail in the etch):
