Show off your Fiddlebacks and Leather

Strig, one drawback to danglers, is some craftsman make the dangler attachment detachable with a screw or bolt. If you purchase one, you have to remember to tighten that screw/bolt every time you wear it. If your hiking a long distance, check it several times. My wife's bolt came loose and the whole sheath and knife hit the deck chipping her Doublemint G10 and scratching her sheath. It's a good thing we heard it fall. Had we been on a hike a not heard it... I don't want to think about that.

Good advice Joe! And I'm glad you heard it fall.

I'm paranoid about losing my knife out of the dangler. On the sheaths that I've decided are going to be full time danglers (my "bushcrafting" knives that I wear in camp and on the trail) , I put locktite on the chicago screws, and I'm still checking all the time to make sure it's there.

For my EDC knives, they're all small enough that I just wear them straight on the belt. I can't EDC a Kephart where I'm at.

Rick made me a cross draw that tips enough for me to edc a bushfinger on the front of my belt....

Thurin, would you consider edc'ing a Kephart if you could? I'm a little worried that it'll be kinda big for that, but at least it's legal here. Still, the police might not appreciate it.

I believe the sheath I'll be going with has two snaps for the dangler. I imagine that will be fine.

I EDC the biggest knife that I feel comfortable carrying. Some days that's a runt in the bottom of the pocket. Others, it's a hiking buddy on the belt. Depends a lot on what I'm wearing and where I'll be going that day. If it was legal to carry a Kephart I think I would occasionally. It's pretty subjective but for my EDC tasks a longer blade doesn't necessarily help. When I'm carrying the Runt, I've never said "I wish I had the Hiking Buddy or longer blade today".

Duder.

Was that one of mine? I don't recall selling you one - but it may have been second hand.

What I recommend is to use a little blue loc-tite (if you want to remove it) and red loctite if you want it to stay permanently.

If you can show me the sheath (it is was one of mine) I can perhaps help with the scratch.

No, it was not a Talfuchre sheath. However, it was a sheath with the same square ring as your models. Loc-tite is a great idea, I just like keeping the dangler/belt sheath optional.

Just to be clear, my wife's sheath did not fall because of a lack of quality in design, but more from a lack of maintenance or neglect (on our part)to our kit.

All are as received except the JRE with the terassaur. That one was wet molded and dyed with Feibings Med Brown.

Was that JRE made for the Terassaur? If not, do you know what model knife is was originally for? Thanks.

M4super90 I think that is a Bushcraft Model B sheath by Sharpshooter. But mine eyes may deceive me.

Duder,

Thanks for the clarification. Superglue can work as well - but may be a bit tougher to get apart.

I have found that if you use a good smooth burnishing tool (such as a polished deer antler tip) and a bit of leather sealer (say Montana Pitch Blend) usually diminishes leather scratches. It would be great to add MPB to the surface - wrap your wives knife in plastic wrap - and do a type of wetform as the blend seeps into the leather. Let it fully dry and buff it with a clean cloth to a shine.

Doing this perhaps twice a year will keep a sheath sealed and looking great.

Sorry bud. I can't add anything to what the others have already said. I can measure it if you want the dimentions. That's about all I got.

The Bark River Bushcraft 'A' sheath fits a terassaur very snuggly. Looks just like that sheath too

I think you are right Solid. The B is for a shorter blade.

If it is from Bark River right now - it is from Sharp Shooter.

They used JRE for a time.

Here is a FS thread on this forum that has a few more pics of the SharpShooter A.

Lookout, the custom knife and sheath world just went girly!

BAM!

My wife is tickled pink (couldn't resist) to have this setup. When we go camping she has a pink flannel shirt she likes to wear. Fishing? It's a pink pole and matching vest. You get the idea. She's very happy to have this setup from two outstanding makers. My thanks to both Andy and Rick!

That's sweet (haha) schmittie! My daughter would be all over that! Most of her clothes are pink and has a pink SAK she uses camping. I was going to get her a pink spydie dragonfly, but this would be even better.
