Show off your Fiddlebacks and Leather

Brian that is stunning! And my sons are now deeply involved in debating what characters in Lord of the Rings are carrying which blades.

We usually recommend the Diomedes APS Baron for that one...BUT, it all depends on how you like the fit, there's still plenty of handle drag on that Gent for shallow carry and gives plenty of grab on the handle.

I love lighter wood colors in that Walnut leather! Great combo!

Thanks Robert. I do prefer more purchase on the knife handle when trying to draw, specially for ISP carry.

Might try a Baron as well.

Beautiful knife Brian! That one looks stainless? I am happy for you.

Phil

Thanks Phil, I think so too. As it turns out it's a grail I didn't even realize I was after, though I suspected after using the white one. This knife is perfect for my needs on several levels.

Yep, it's stainless. I gotta say, it looks way better in Brian's photos then it did in my kitchen. :D Looks awesome in that sheath as well.

Oh, it's still in a kitchen...it's just the kitchen isn't finished yet. I still have more pieces coming, more to order, and more to make :)

Having sliced fruits, vegetables, and meats with the white one, and bacon with this one, I think you may be happier with the white one in the kitchen, and I'll be happier with this one wandering the woods :)

Fantastic blade Brian. Bilbo is a lucky Hobbit :)

Indeed he is, just as I am lucky to have the friends here that I have :)

I think so too! Lol, sounds like a cool debate

So far I have two sorted for sure. The Guacho is going to be Bilbo, he has been long known for his love of cooking, to me it only stands to reason that his wandering knife would work well at a cutting board. I know I love it when mine does and this one is perfect. Merry gets the Wingman due to the attitude it has, and Merry being known to have wandered the old forest several times over the years, and then living there on the border as well. Plus I see the Wingman working well for cleaning fish, and that will play into this project on Merry's part as well due to the proximity to the Brandywine River

Now the only problem is that I see them side by side this way...I personally want a Wingman the size of the Gaucho :)

Ne too Abe, me too :)

Now that's my kind of debate. :D

My thoughts too! :)

Man, this is great to hear. From the handful of discussions we've had in various threads I had a feeling that particular Gaucho was way better suited for your needs as opposed to mine. Not only for the photo project but as a user as well. I'm super stoked that it turned out to be a grail as well.

I had my bush finger out camping last weekend with the boy scouts. We were in charge of teaching fire building. Needless to say the bush finger got a work out prepping wood for a countless number of fires. It worked like a champ and is still amazingly sharp for as much whittling and wood shaving it did. It was a wet weekend on the Oregon coast. No corrosion or rust evident. Just kept it wiped down, good to go.

Nice Bushfinger. Yeah the A-2 is more user friendly on the corrosion resistance in wet enviroments than the O-1 is for sure.

Oh definitely. I like the thicker blades more than some people. If I pick up another for the kitchen, and that is a definite possibility later on, I'll probably get another 3/32 one. It definitely slices very well.

Um, I went to the Fiddleback Outpost and did not see this knife or sheath on there. I think you need to update the website. Please PM me 5 minutes before you do.

Cheers,

Justen

No, no! Don't give Robert any ideas! I picked out a nice knife for myself at the Fiddleback Forge shop a few weeks ago and that jerk sold it while we were driving back to the Outpost. I have to be diligent in keeping him from selling my knives - he's very sneaky....

That cloud magma with burl is just amazing!! I have to score one someday.

Phil's ASP and that Nessmuk are tops in the line.

Bill

Yeah, well, I'm not sure why Robert/Fiddleback Outpost was so keen the Earl for a Patch knife... Look how far it sticks out, wedged in there:

Kidding, of course! :D

So now, I have an RLO crossdraw sheath for the life I long to live, and a Diomedes APS Earl for the rest o' the time:

Exceptional work on everyone's parts, the knife, the sheaths.

... I reckon that's supposed to be a "d" on the Diomedes sheath (just a feeling), but my first and last names both start with "S" so we're going with that. ;)

I love how this is all coming together...

SHORT VERSION:

When you realize you have just spent exponentially more on your knife's pants than you ever have on your own, and are unreasonably happy.
