here's my big girl.. her name is TIMBER... she's half Rottwieler and half Labrador (a.k.a. ROT-N-LAB).... she just turned 7..

she has got to be one of the best mixes i have come across...:D we love her..

We adopted Toby, a black tri-color Australian Shepherd a little over a month ago. He's a couple inches over standard for the breed, really tall and more collie-like. He's three years old and came to us well trained. The previous owner's had small kids and he kept trying to herd them and scaring their little friends. He's been a complete gentleman and gets along with our other dog, a female Cocker/Welsh Springer mix.

I had worked with Aussies before and it is fun to work with such intelligent, trainable dogs. I was looking for a mutt to take hiking and this guy fills the bill.

Do you know that what we think of as a dog is really a misconception? I hold that the dog stomach is really the main organism--- all the rest just serves the stomach: nose, eyes and ears to locate food, feet to move it about, tail to signal when hungry, etc.

Boy, is THIS ever true! Absolutely spot-on way to put it.

And with a sausage or piece of liver...you can get a dog to even employ that giant brain they occasionally use.
