Loving the thread!

This is my 5 yr old Shep/Elkhound. I think I posted them in another 'dogs' thread but hey, it's a dog thread!
We don't get much snow on the left coast, so you've gotta take advantage of it.

Talking about a hiking buddy...I rattle my keys and she's at my feet instantly - even from a dead sleep (which is a lot of the time). I've trained her to hand signals so I can take her with me when I shoot wildlife. She'll drop when I point down and only follow me to stay the same distance behind. A nod of my head and she's beside me, an 'okay' and she runs free again. If she's out of sight a unique whistle brings her back. Like the other Shepherds I've had, she needs to be worked or she gets bored easily. The perfect hiking buddy.

We have always owned German Shepherds of one sort or the other. Great dogs when trained properly.

Our little American Staffordshire (adopted when abandoned as a puppy) has been one of our very favorite dogs of the many we have owned. She graduated at the very top of her dog obedience and field training classes and is one exceptionally intelligent and well-balanced pup. Especially loves children and can throw a tennis ball with amazing accuracy. Pure muscle and speed.

Great looking dogs! When I get settled I'm either going to get a Lab or a German Shephard.

I've had a few labs but never a German Shep. I take my girlfriends little french bulldog out hiking with me a lot. He's very good on the trail but is a little nutty towards other dogs so I have to keep an eye on him :grumpy:

hey RobStanley I have a couple questions for you if you don't mind.

Is Murray a purebred Dane? How does he do outside? Do you take hime on hikes? If so how far can he handle?

Bro,Zeus is HUGE !!! Nice
He's very handsome :)
The little dude and me(well,as you can see,he's not very little... :D)

PITDOG----WE ARE BOTH HANDSOME ACCORDING TO MY WIFE :)

ZOMBAIO---I'M ALLERGIC TO CATS--BUT WOULD NEVER SHOOT ONE WITH AN AIR RIFLE--THAT'S THE ACT OF A PUNK!!!

YOUR DOG LOOKS A LOT LIKE THE GERMAN SHEPHERD ZEUS MET AT THE PARK YESTERDAY--HIS NAME WAS APOLLO, AGE 2 YEARS(ZEUS IS 3.5 MONTHS)

LOOK HOW BIG HE IS COMPARED TO ZEUS-WEIGHS 105lbs

ZEUS TRIED TO PUSH APOLLO AROUND--AND IT WAS SOOO FUNNY TO WATCH

He'll be seven later this month. 85 lbs and of unknown lineage. He came from a shelter, and their best guess was Husky/ or Malamute/ Shepard. A lot of folks insist he must have some wolf in him. He is incredibly gentle and a real head-turner.

nice looking brood you got there.

Tom Hanks:These are the simple rules. No barking, no growling, you will not lift your leg to anything in this house. This is not your room. No slobbering, no chewing, you will wear a flea collar. This is not your room. No begging for food, no sniffing of crotches, and you will not drink from my toilet. This is not your room.

Hi,

Here's a picture of my best dog after a hard days work. We're both a bit older and slower now. But we can still do the work!

Here is a pic of my dog Coleman (Bubba) and myself this past weekend. I took my wife and Coleman to Fort Stevens for the weekend, notice the shipwreck in the background, that is the Peter Iredale.
