Redsnake,
He's a Deutsch Drahthaar, as are the other two in the post. They are considered versatile hunting dogs that point, retrieve over land or water, and track wounded game.

:D

I think he's around 20 months old now. I need to get some pics of him as a puppy from our neighbor, he was a complete chick magnet (and still is even now)! When he gets bred, my GF and I will certainly have to take one :)

I love Newfies and their black and white cousins. If I had the room I would have one or two. That last pic is fantastic!

rksoon, that last shot is priceless. :D

Yeah, I had my girlfriend rolling at that one :D She seriously couldn't stop laughing for a good 30 minutes! Maximus (his name) is one funny Newfie; he's so full of life and love. Really just a simple, honest, loyal friend.

Protourist, which breed is the black and white cousin to the Newfies?

The Newfie people I've known only consider the solid colored ones newfies. The others aren't "true" newfies in their minds.
That is a beautiful dog!

Ah! Gotcha, I do remember reading a while back that some do consider the Landseer coat a different breed. Thanks!

My buddy Satchmo. Siberian Husky.
He's still young, but he's a good kid...most of the time.
Likes to be outside alot.
Really likes playing with cats. A little too much, I think. Especially since I found out that Huskies eat cats.

...I don't think he'd eat Gilbert though...never can tell...

Anyhow, forgive the quality...pics are from my RIZR.

"I don't think he'd eat Gilbert though...never can tell"

Don't count on it:rolleyes:
The husky I lost a few years back,I took in because of just that, cats are an obsession for them,or any small animal for that matter! But I still luv-um:)

I did teach the cat a lesson two days ago.
When I leave for work I put him on a tie line so that he can run and build muscle, keep down house fat, yadda yadda...he gets a kick out of it. Plus he isn't as restless when he comes in for the night.

This cat has figured out right where that line ends. It sits at the end of it cleaning itself and it drives that poor pup crazy.
Two days ago I got home early from work and saw what the cat was doing and how crazy it was making Satch.

....So I unleashed him and let him chase that cat for two hours. By the time he went in, all he could do was flop down and lie there.

Even the look on that cat's face when he got loose was priceless. Cleaning away...then out of nowhere comes this freightrain of a dog...it's the first time I believe I've ever thought I heard a cat say: "MOTHERF--KER!"

I'm pretty sure it gives me the finger every morning since, too.

He loves my 3yr old to death. Sits and watches that kid play for hours.

LOL! :D :D :D I thought you were going to say that you lengthened the lead line by a couple of feet. Of course, your cat WILL get even. I'd sleep with one eye open.

Nah, that happened with the retractable leash!

The cat thought it was the same as the regular leash so she (yes, Gilbert is a she...my three year old named it when he was a little over 2) decided to bait the dog.

...I unlocked the leash and laughed when he steamrolled the unsuspecting feline. The funny part is that after she rolled a couple feet she sat bolt upright and began cleaning herself, like she meant for it to happen.

I imagine before it's over she'll end up with her claws in my calf screaming: "REVENGE BITCH!!!"

rk>>

I haven't seen much majesty out of Satchmo yet. He's clumsy as a drunk cripple.

Great thread and great pics. Never met a dog I didn't like, same can't be said about people. I'll post a few of my stinker when I replace my camera. I've never heard of a Deutsch Drahthaar before. Beautiful dog. I love that color combo on the legs. Welcome to the forums Wes.

He's sixteen years old now but when he was young he use to like to go camping and hiking. He cant walk very good, nor see or hear like like he could when he was young. His appetite is excellent and he likes to take his daily walk around the pond. I'll sorely miss the little fellow when he gone....
