I work for a Resource Management company. My expertise is GIS or Geographic Information Systems. These were from last summer on an really neat job I got to go on mapping and infrared scanning wildfires. Using GPS and mapping software we would fly around the fire collecting data, and in 20 minutes or less have a map produced for ground crews with fire data and hotspots mapped. I got to see a whole lot of different areas, and hope to be on the short list this summer!

U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Originally an Immigration Inspector with INS but these days spend a lot of time out on one of the VACIS machines looking for stuff that shouldn't be there.

Thank you for helping to protect our borders.

Thank you for helping us spend our money.

Thank you for helping the ground crews.

Keep em coming, folks!

Sure is. They're working on collecting info needed to design a replacement for that crib wall you see below the road.

Hiya all. New guy here. I guess this is a good place to start.

I was mostly an industrial and fleet mechanic, and did electrical stuff too, for a small wtaer district (which means we dug up streets looking for leaks too).

But I retired after 30 years of water work (and other industrial machine work).

So what I do NOW, between spoiling grandchildren, walking the dogs, fixing the house etc, is play music in an ensemble (called "Jazz-A") of other old geezers. We play the odd restaurant "wallpaper jazz" job, plus retirement homes, weddings, parties, fund-raiser/benefits etc.

This is how I spend my Days. Work on a caster. Not my company, but it gives you an idea.

I did some work at a cold rolling shop just before I joined the Navy. Not the same thing, but I bet the smells and grime are similar.

Thanks for all your hard work, glad you're having some fun now. I'm honored to have one of your first posts in my thread. It's a good place, good folks. Nice tat.

But, it hasn't. Now it's safe and secure, thanks to intergovernmental security, and it's diligent members. (Who are now going to pursue a career in lifesaving?)

Nope, no dead thread here, as we can plainly see. (By the way, I am up for some new specs, recommendations?)

Definitely, this thread is still locked up and destined for a life sentence here at BFC.

I hadn't forgotten about it, just wanted to wait for other members to resurrect it. Thanks, and keep the jobs and pics coming. :D
