As much as I hate to admit it, I stopped carrying my PSK awhile back and simply modified my EDC a little. I always have a kit in the PU that can cover quite a bit, but this simple and I'm sure by some standards, maybe ill equipped kit is what is with me. The Jansport pouch, light, bandana and cheapo space blanket are either in the shirt/jacket pictured, or my cargo's. The other pouch is an inexpensive boy scouts compass pouch that can ride vertical or horizontal on the belt. The other gear ride in pants pockets. I'm sure that it will modify as time goes on. Most certainly a small FAK which will fit in the Jansport pouch and I will add a small fixed blade (BK-11)when I get a belt carry sheath for it.

troutfisher, it's one of the first that Cabelas carried. The black coating has worn off of it. The Brunton compass keeps on pointing magnetic north, so it's still good to go. :D

They are awesome match cases. I love mine! How well are the O-rings holding up?

Ha! I couldn't answer your question, so I dropped it into the small creek out back and let the water run over it for a bit. When I removed the lid and contents, there was a small amount of water. Guess I better get it fixed. Thanks.

I have a simple survival kit stored in a heavy duty webbed nylon pouch that is designed to carry a cell-phone. In it I carry a lighter, two cotton pads (2"x2") in a mini plastic bag, a fire steel rod, snare wire, fishing line and two hooks, a mini compass, and a Case small executive stainless steel lock-back knife. The kit measures 4 1/2" tall by 2 3/4" wide and fits secure on my belt with a button snap.

Hi all,

For someone that doesn't have any of these items, is there a good online store or local store where I could purchase everything I'd need to make a Survival Kit? Thanks!

campingsurvival.com is probably my favorite for most things.

A place like Miejer will fill in a lot of gaps, and get you the cheap first aid stuff. You'll probably find a lot of useful things just laying around the house, like good containers, duct tape, safety pins, etc..

Stay away from the pre-made kits. If you don't know enough to pick your own gear, take your time and learn what you need! Then make your own decisions. Then you'll know what's in your kit and why, and how to use it.

Searching through this forum will give you several days worth of reading, I do believe. I'd take my time, and not go blow a bunch of money straight away.

This is Turning out very well. Mabye when we get 6 pages in we can turn it into a Sticky. :D

Great kits guys, keep'em coming for sure.
