Show us your Randalls

I first put masking tape on the blade, guard and front spacer pack. Then removed the remaining leather washers with a hacksaw by sawing along the tang(carefully!)

The pommel nut was removed with pliers as it was too damaged.I kept the rear spacer pack together by cutting either side with my hacksaw.Just cutting the pommel
was enough to heat the glue that held it in place, then it just wiggled off.

After a good clean-up with sandpaper of the tang, the rear of the front spacer pack and the rear spacer pack,it was ready to go back together.

The washers were cut from a piece of quarter inch thick black canvas micarta, then each one drilled and slotted to fit the tang. Each washer was sanded on BOTH sides to remove the shine and add grip for the glue.

These washers were then liberally coated with two part 5 minute epoxy, then slid onto the tang along with the rear spacer pack and a new roughly shaped brass pommel and little brass dome nut.

The whole lot then tightened up,be careful not to strip out the brass nut. Then came the hard part!(for me anyway)Using rasps, files and various grades of sandpaper(I dont have any power tools, even drilling the holes in the washers was done with an eggbeater type drill!)

Balance is three quarters of an inch behind the front spacer pack.

Couldn't sleep the other night, woke up and fired up eBay, saw this and didn't miss a beat buying it. The seller had no idea what he was selling from a recently inherited knife collection, but having just been in the Stidham 1991 sales catalog, I recognized it as a custom...

Likely made by Dave Griffin at Randall Made Knives for long-time dealer/collector Jack Crider in the mid to late 1980's. (Knives with similar blade grind/blade shape/handle material/and hilts are shown in that catalog, from Jack's collection - and while some of the knives in that sales catalog later turned out to be altered knives, none of the knives shown with these characteristics were).

A #10-5 Drop-Point with stainless steel blade, brass hilt, Griffin (Single-Finger Groove) handle, and elephant ivory handle scales, it was a good score - I think I'll keep it for a while.

A rough quick pic, I'll take better down the road - just had to share though. Having had many hundreds of RMK's, it takes a one that's a little over the top to get my blood flowing these days... :D

Good show, Shel! With reference to that same catalog, here's a pic of Bill Platts' personal Model 3-7 from 1958 paired with a late 60's / early 70's sheath (Page 10 item P-60). Also a pic of an associated provenance letter generated by Rhett:

I just picked up these 2 late 1960s MINTY Randall DELRIN beautys!!! I have always wanted a Randall Brassback Model 12, but never wanted to put out (1500-2000).. I guess the DELRIN was not that popular in the 60s or even today, but I ran with it to own a brassback!! However i had to buy the matching Arkansas toothpick too:o)..

This came to me as a set for about less than what one brassback would, so got one...

GTR model. I like this size, only about 7 3/4 inch overall. Brass and black spacers always look good.
I got curious about the stag on this one and did some google searching on a few websites in India. I was able to locate the original owner.;)

Just; well, just because I found this while looking for something else. With a 7.25" blade and over-sized handle, it's probably the largest Randall Model #1-7 'All-Purpose Fighting Knife' that I've ever owned, more like a #14 CDT in fact, and with the high option count it couldn't be ordered today. Funny what you find once the digging begins...

This has been one of the most enjoyable threads i've seen in a long time.

Definitely love me some RMK's.

Have several of my own: #5-6; #8 old style; #11, #12 bear, #17 and 2(two) #19's one in 4" and one in 5".

I think the #5 is my favorite; the #17 was hardest to find and the #19 (5") would be my go too SHTF carry.

Relatively new to collecting but the Randall's are my favorites.

Very nice, Shel! Here's a pic of my largest and smallest Model 3. The large one has an 8 1/2" blade made from 3/8" stock! Also, try to find a miniature Model 3 in leather and not stag :D

Here is my largest, a 7 incher. Just got it the other day from a crazy old coot from out in the wilds of Montana.
