Sighting!!! . . . . Killa Zillas In The Mist!!! . . . .

Infi boot knife, I need one of them. Can this one of a kind BOOTle Mistress come in size 12?:cool:

Wow! This thread got a little strange last night! You gotta love the booze. Like I always say "if you don't have at least one regret, it wasn't a good night of drinkin'!!!"

Hey Boss, why don't you get this thread back on track with another (less blurry) pic?!

.

It was a bit foggy the other day and I was cutting firewood on the back forty behind the shop. . . . Suddenly, I heard a loud crashing sound coming from behind me. When I turned, I saw enormous trees falling like bottles of scotch after a HOG induction dinner!!!. . . . At first I thought "Tornado!!!!". . . . then I thought "Hurricane!!!". . . and then I saw the mushroom cloud and knew that I had been followed!!!!

Killa Zilla had trailed me and was looking for some revenge for having been locked in the shop when so many dead standing oak trees were spoiling for a fight!. . . . . They were taunting the "Zilla" like sirens in the haze. . . . . "Killa Zilla? . . .. Killa Zilla? . . . .Where are you Killa Zilla?. . . . Are you afraid to come out and play-eeee-yay?"

Before I could take cover, I was buried in woodchips and tree sap!!!!. . . .. . . The sirens had been silenced. . . . my scotch had been spilled. . . and my cigar looked like a quarter stick had been hidden in the middle!!! :grumpy:. . .

Oh sure, I was glad to be alive, but I was also confused as to why there had to be such a senseless spilling of scotch???. . . That's the worst kind of alcohol abuse!!!!!

I snapped this pic of the "Killa Zilla" as it flew by in the fog!!!!. . .

YOWZA!!!!!. . . . . .. . .. . . . .

As a representative of Godzilla fans everywhere, I APPROVE of the name!

now there's an idea damasteel infi. now what would ya mix it with? wootz?

nothing, just infi. The only reason I'd ever laminate infi is to get past the pesky thin stock sizes and get to something really worthwhile, .500-1.000" thick.

a 1/2" thick 18" killazilla would be a dream come true.

course, a 1/8" version would be pretty fun too.

I want a .125" thick X 4" long bladed Pocket Killa Zilla with the Old Skool Busse logo so I could carry it at work. It would be the coolest box deanimator known to man.;):D

The "Killa Zilla" is HUGE!!!!!!. . .

Blade length: 12"

Overall Length: 18.5"

Thickness: Approx. .270"

Handles: Micarta/G-10

Blade Steel: INFI

* Optional rear axle with all terrain tires for easy transport into wilderness areas.

Let's Drink!!!!

.

I hope the "optional rear axel" means the handle and "all terrain tires" means Res-C!!!!!!

Message to Jerry.... Message to Jerry....
I don't know if you ever tried using a ffbm for extended chopping in the woods ?
Sometimes I go out for the day and chop with my ffbm for extended periods. I have to admit that without gloves the shock can numb my hand pretty fast.
I think people are calling for res-c handles because more shock absortion would be a bonus for people how use their knives intensely.

And after having written so much it's time for a little drink

really worthwhile? wow, those are some strong words...

I come from a khukuri backround, and I *mostly* stand by them.

3/8th" makes for a general user, 1/2" with a khukuri grind makes for a chopper/splitter. The difference between the normal khukuri at 1/2" and this one is 2 fold,
1 - khukuries actually have a full heigth grind, it's just in two different angles. take a measurement at 5 spots going from spine to edge, and each one will be smaller then the last. The main grind near the edge being more a more obtuse angle, and more noticable.
2 - normal khukuries don't have a full thickness exposed tang, they either have a stick tang (practically no weight), or an exposed tang with drastically reduced thickness.

the result of these two things is that you get 1/2" thick, but you also get a package that is much lighter then you would get in the killazilla package. it's very weight forward, and acts much more like an axe then a supersized machete.

I would expect the killazilla (at 18" overall at 1/2" thick) to weigh in and feel closer to a 25" ang khola at 1/2", or an exceptionally heavy 22" ganga ram. I've owned a 25" and 30" ang khola, both at 1/2" and they were great blades. not that usable for every day tasks, but fun to split with.

Taking into account the overal geometry of this thing, I'd say 3/8" would be the reasonable limit. but 1/2" would be very much worthwhile.

.270" is fat enough for me. If you can't pick it up or see over it in the morning, you went too fat.

I like the spec's on this a LOT!! The blade length at 12 inches is comparable to the issued Gurkha Khukri and thickness at .27 is pretty much perfect for a 12 inch blade....the points made regarding the tang on traditional khukri's are interesting and seem to be picked up by Jerry in the hazy picture as the handle looks to me to be a one piece affair with only one talon hole which bodes well for comfort and "balance" wise it looks like the blade may have a hidden tang which would keep the "Zilla" perfectly in step with traditional Khukri "balance and feel".

If the knife has an exposed full tang it does'nt look like it in the pic's as there are not the usual 3 rivet holes....so all told this looks to be done on the traditional lines and will have the traditional benefits with the big plus of INFI!!!:thumbup:

as jerry said it was micarta or g10, it would have to be a solid block of either of those to be hidden tang, wich I don't think will be the case. I think the picture is just very grainy, and very dark.
