Silver Needle's GSO 5's

If they switched sheaths, Standard's BFF would have a twin to my incoming factory second. I kind of have that color combination trade marked and I'm sure there is nobody else in the world who would have ordered it before me :p

Well if I had to trademark one combination, that would be it for me as well  Although I'm kinda digging the Red and Green idea. I might have to try that as a change up. Now what's the chance of some red canvas??!!

My last post wasn't real clear, I think red handle and OD sheath will look great. That is my "trademark", ha!

More recently I've been drawn to the look of the natural canvas handles with the dark tumbled steel of the blade.

Whew! I was worried my brown canvas handles were going to start arriving with a tiny 'SN' engraved into them. :D

Dang, I feel very silly now. You 2 are so smart. A set of natural handles are now on the top of my list!!

Thanks bud! Better safe than sorry!
I should've taken a photo of the OD green and red linen! I didn't think of swapping them out at all.

I'm hoping for some use and action shots this weekend. From what I could tell from a quick tent peg and junky feather stick, this is absolutely my grail knife. Handle ergos and size, blade length and thickness and especially height all add up to just what I've been hoping for after handling longer and thicker knives.

This must be what earned her factory second status. Any other production company would easily call this "within specifications and tolerances, good enough, yes you will pay full price for this". In this case it got me a ridiculous bargain.

After seeing Guy abuse a phone book on youtube, I had to give it a try. I put my off hand on the spine and pushed down or did a little bit of rocking of the blade. The stack of corners closest to the blade are all lose. The cut was so clean they didn't topple or stick to the phone book.

Not pictured: long patch of hairless skin on my arm. Always need a quick shave when a GSO arrives.

After a little chopping last night I realized that she really doesn't want to stay in my hand with a rear grip. Here's my pinky lanyard, Gideon's Tactical style.

Pinky lanyard, engage! So yeah, she'll chop. There are definitely better tools out there for chopping, but I know if I was dumped in the wilderness with only this knife and a pair of assless chaps, I'd be able to chop if needed. Plus, I get this weird satisfaction from pushing this one knife into as many different tasks as I can think of.

Note how the handles are looking less than vibrant. Time for mineral oil?

Very nice.
Try slicing a 1" phonebook, kinda like you would a sheet of paper. Like butter, of course it needs to be held firmly
