Good luck to you as well, and that's a really weird law about the rifles. Is there a good reason for it?

Not exactly sure. If I had to guess, I would say that most of the area around here is corn/soy fields, and actual hunting ground is somewhat close together. Opportunities for long enough shots to necessitate a rifle are fairly scarce.

Is that in your county only, or state wide?

State wide, as far as I know. Muzzleloading rifles are allowed. There may be an exemption for farmers who obtain nuisance permits for deer that destroy crops.

Just got my 15. Loved the handle at 1st touch. Dear Lord, am I the only one who thinks this thing is humongous?

Glad I didn't order a 5

If you that the 15 is too big, you better not even look at the 9! :D

I belt carry mu 16 at least 3 days a week but the 15 wouldn't be any different really. I'm pretty sure I'd get stopped at the door if I walked into Wally World with a 5 strapped on my hip though.

OOOH! First snark of the morning... Who's got coffee? I'll bring my appetite and some good stories if y'all are making breakfast.

Yah, humongous would NOT be the word I'd use to describe the 15. I'd say you're the only one. At least you got the handle part lurve right.

I've got bacon going and I'm having iced coffee - but it'd be a bit of a drive for you to get here.....

Mornin ya miscreant! Just think, a week from now many of us will be waking up with mind-splitting hangovers on Becker Mountain... I can't wait

Morning folks.

Grats on the Brute Jonny

That key ring looks awesome WW! Awesome sheath 710!

9, 5, 15, 11, 24, 1, and RBK is my current want list for Beckers. Throw in a 3 for each car too :D. I already own a blade similar to the 7 / 16 / 17, and own a 2. I can see the utility in a 4 and they look pretty sweet, but I held one at a knife store and it didn't really do 'it' for me. I'm sure all I would have to do is use one in the woods in order to recant this statement :) because who are we kidding... gotto have them all!

Actually, you should think about getting the 4 before the 9....I know, I know, blasphemy! Holding one in the store will never give you the feel for how fast that thing moves, which is the main advantage for me over the 9. That, and it really excels at a lot of "small knife" tasks in a very natural feeling way. I agree, you gotta have 'em all....but get the 4, and if you don't like it, it should be REAL easy to sell. The 9 might be the King (and I like mine, I really do), but we all know how much work actual kings really did ;).

Thanks man!
I plan on using the hell out of this thing.
Congrats, Jonny. I was using mine last night for fire prep. Made me realize I'm gonna have to thin the edge out a bit (and shrink the handle girth) if I'm gonna use it and enjoy it. It's a beast, alright. But it's so thick I can't even get it to stick in my chopping stump. It's more like the knife version of a splitting maul....at least it is now. Enjoy it, brother.

I hear ya, that's why I said I would have to get some time in with it so I could change my opinion of it :D Also, while I understand why the handle is on an angle but if it was straight... it may be my ultimate knife :D

What's everyone got going on today?

Yardwork, probably some football watchery, and definitely putting the final touches on a couple projects that need to be ready in time for the Gathering.

And probably a bit of bourbon tasting later.

got up yesterday, drove to tulsa for a cousin's 40th anniversary party.
got drafted to do lots of grunt work instead of sitting down and drinking beer while talking to people I don't know.
helped with the cleanup while said strangers treated me like hired help - which means I also got to pack a case of beer, a couple pounds of pulled pork and brisket, and a dozen oatmeal chocolate chip cookies in the car (with the cousin's permission).
drove home.

today I need to mow the lawn and figure out how to fix the brush hog - since I hit a tree with it Friday evening while mowing and tore half the A-frame off... :(

I picture you actually hefting the brush hog, wielding it like a baseball bat and smacking the tree.
