Howdy everybody! Yes John and I went out to the park yesterday for a bit and hiked back to the place where we will be occupying space on the 20th. It looks like the perfect place to do what we want. I think everyone will really like it there! We took all the back roads from John's house to the park, so I got the full dollars worth tour of the area. I think instead of meeting at the McDonald's there at I-55 and Hwy. 6, we should all just meet at the Park enterance. It's actually really easy to find. The park opens at 8:00, so we can just gather there until it opens if you get there early, and if you get there after the gate opens, we'll just meet in the farthest parking lot inside the park. You'll know your going the right way when you go down the wicked curvy hill. I figure most of you that live down in that area probably already know how to get there but, for you guys that might not know where it is. Just go to Google Maps and follow I-80 over until you get to the place where it meets with I-55, get onto I-55 south and take that down until you get to Hwy. 6, and take that west. Follow Hwy. 6 until you come to South McKinley Woods Road, and go south again. That will take you right into the park, which is McKinley Woods County Forest Preserve. Just print you off a map from google with the instructions and we'll see all of you there. We just figured that at that time of the morning on a Saturday morning, that McDonald's would probably be a mad house, so it might be a bit of a problem getting in there and back out on the road. I'll be looking forward to seeing all of you again.
As usual, I enjoyed my visit with John. He helped me adjust my new grinder so that I could profile some knives for myself. I am looking forward to being able to profile my Frontier Nessmuk some time fairly soon.
Hey John, the walking stick tip worked perfect! Later!
