If you have a Varusteleka Skrama, I'd like to see that one in action. Looking forward to it!It's been 10 years in the making, I planted a lot of bamboo. I am now in a position to remove a lot of it. I am thinking of making some slasher flicks testing blades thru bamboo.... also an excuse to buy more knives and machetes and possibly my first sword. XL pocket knives might even get a turn.
Any suggestions on best tests and blades to cover in this project. Funds allowing I will be as varied and comprehensive as possible.
I will start with what I have in my current collection obviously.
Five pages and five days and all Hoola has managed to do with any success is 1) start the thread and 2) vilify those who own high-end knives as “geeks” and “chicken shits”. I don’t even recall seeing a photo of the supposed bamboo patch, much less the knives to be used in this grand experiment. So far he’s over promised and under delivered on his initial post. Oh, and reply with childish name-calling/snark to anyone who’s called him on his non-progress. This thread has had some interesting elements, none of which however address the OP.
I’m here to watch the geeks and chicken shits get all worked up.![]()
The trick is plant them in a big barrel(s), below the ground, so you don't become the talk of the neighbourhood for causing a regional infestation. Mack the Machete or no Mack the Machete that stuff spreads fast. I've got a small stand that does just fine and you'd never know it was in a barrel, except for the fact it hasn't spread everywhere.Be prepared in a couple years to dig out all the bamboo and burn it. Bamboo will take over everything very quickly.
I see it......try holding the phone the right way next time. You get a much better video if you hold the phone horizontally......Can anyone see this, found someone to upload a short clip of a typical patch to YT. These stalks a quiet large tbh.

That is a very atypical shape for a cane knife.
If you could do something in 440c, aus8, n690, and aus10 that would be great. There was a thread not to long ago that would greatly appreciate your help in the matter.
I’d do more, but most of my other knives I have are thin slicers that are not at all designed for this kind of use.Let’s see if I can redeem this thread.
It’s no bamboo forest, but it is bamboo nonetheless. And it’s dry so it is harder.
Here’s your hundreds of dollars.

(Don’t judge my dirty blade!)
I also made sure to cut through the nodes
Now I only made 2 cuts with each, but they both only received minor edge dulling and will still cut paper, other then that they are completely unscathed! (And I didn’t go easy with my swings)
BRO! do you even bamboo?!![]()
