Naa...that'll buff out. :D

Yep, rack looks nice, but he's a scrawny one. Was wondering if it was a Mule Deer for a second.

Trying to decide on the style for a custom knife for myself. With the work bonus, I should be able to get some more tools for the shop and be able to cut my own blanks. This'll just be a diversion for me, though. Too many really talented knife makers out there for me to ever get to the point where I'll prefer my own over theirs!

Nice buck! i have only been hunting 2 times in my life and both were on private land in texas. I worked with the guy who owned the land and after work i would always shoot my pistols and my Aks off and one day we were talking and he was telling me about how he loves to hunt and i told him i never been hunting before but id like to try it with a pistol, he told me id never get a buck with my pistol, at the time i was shooting a S&W M&P 45 compact. so i took him up on the offer and the 1st day we didnt see anything but tracks so i spent the night tracking them, the next day i got my first buck with the pistol. the rack had 8 points and the guy bought it off me for 50 bucks to hang on his cabin wall. he cleaned it and we split the meat.

the second time i went hunting on his land i took an sks and a couple pistols. while sitting in some brush we heard something rustling around, then it was coming closer really fast.. it was definetly smaller than a deer but we could not see what it was. i layed down the rifle and prepared my pistol. within seconds something leaped into the air and i took 2 shots and hit the bandit in the throat. I immedietly felt horrible, it was beautiful big bobcat, but the crazy thing was coming right towards us. he said he had seen them on his property taking chickens but they would always run away whenever they heard him but this one was braver than it should of been. another guy from work gave me 200 for the cat and had it stuffed. but i greatly regretted shooting it. it was a beautiful creature. I never went hunting again. i couldnt eat the cat and felt its life was taken for nothing. but the guy was happy it wouldnt eat his chickens anymore.

I killed another deer a few months later but this time it was while driving. the doe jumped in front of my jeep and almost made me crash. i hit the back side of it. it wasnt dead but its legs were broken. i shot it to put it out of its misery and some guys from work cleaned her up and we split the meat.

I'm taking this over to my buddies shop today and doing some work on it. My 2 has been outta commission for far too long....

I got drunk one day and pressed it into a bench grinder. Ugh....kinda regret it now but who knows could turn out OK.

I think I'll leave the buffing for last though ;)

My bottle of makers mark is almost gone and I need to get another good bottle of bourbon. How does the black label compare?

Apples and oranges. JWB is Scotch, not bourbon.
If you can get ahold of some Colonel Taylor small batch (about $40 to $45), it is some outstanding bourbon for the price.
Four Roses small batch is a good bourbon for the $$. So are Knob Creek, Buffalo Trace, and Basil Hayden.

sandpaper is your friend.

I agree knob creek is pretty good for the price, but id pick scotch over bourbon any day. also J.walker is pretty good but id grab the single malt green label over the black. but really my favorite drink is crown royal. not as expensive and taste oh so good! the crown royal black is a beautiful thing. i hate to swallow it and swish it around in my mouth trying to absorb all the flavor :)

What is everyone favorite hot sauce? i am a hot sauce and cayenne pepper addict. i easily go thru a bottle of hot sauce and a jar of cayenne pepper every week. im not big on tabascos flavor but its ok on popcorn. i like red hot and louisianna's flavor but they are not spicy enough so i increase the heat with Dave's insanity. im not big on extracts or the crazy hot stuff in the million+ scoville ratings but i have treid a few of blairs and mad dog 357 hot sauces and even "the source" extract which was stupid hot at over 7 million scovilles.

So flavor wise what do you guys prefer?

Black pepper, I'm Irish and I own it. I don't do scorched tastebuds.

lol, my tongue doesnt even register black pepper :) i started eating raw un pickled peppers at 4 years old. by the time i was 6 i was pouring hot sauce on all my food except sugar based foods like cereal. And raw peppers with a block of cheese was my favorite snack. Now its hard to find the right mix of flavor and heat. daves insanity mixed with louisianna or red hot is quite perfect though.

My daughter is 6 and will throw a fit if we run out of hot sauce on chicken night!

I used to get really into hotsauce and tried a ton of the specialty brands. I've kind of settled down to a few I can get locally, now. I love me some spicy food (and I'm Irish, too), so we always have a few varieties on hand. Franks Red Hot Xtra Hot, Franks Buffalo, Pain is Good Honey Habanero Sceamin' Wing Sauce, Pain is Good Garlic Hot Sauce, and El Yucateca Habanero. I also make my own out of some Thai Chilis we get at the local Asian market and have some Dave's Insanity that I use a tsp or so of to really kick up a batch of chili if I want it hot.

*lol*

and that, right there, is why America (USA) has an obesity problem. 'Cereal' became 'sugar-based'. Used to be whole grains, nuts, seeds.

I like Sriracha, the duct tape of food. I've been known to put it on salad.
Also, Thai sweet chile sauce - yowsa! love me summa that. And plenty of wasabi with my sushi, please.
Tabasco has a very high vinegar content. There are times when that is appropriate, and I like it for that.

I like the pain is good ones! never tried the el yucateco habanero but im adding it to my amazon cart!

I have tried making my own from habaneros and jolokias but it tasted pretty bad.... it was hot but not good.

Dave's Insanity Sauce is pretty damn good. Few drops in the salsa and it's just right for me....strong stuff though. Recently I've been using wasabi mayo from trader joe's on my sandwiches. Makes them really sing...

Get the green El Yucateca. :)

I used to order Anchor Bar wing sauce when we did hot wings for every Packer game of the season. That got expensive. Right now, if I don't put hot sauce on the table, my 7-year-old son will look around like something is missing. That kid loves his hot sauce.
