70 degrees here today.

Youngest son made pork ribs for the first time in the offset smoker he welded on a new grate lip last Friday - because he's decided welding is fun and he wanted ribs.

Great to see the sparkle in his eye as he learns new skills.

One of the better days I've had recently.

And the ribs were good!
60 here today - supposed to be 25 tomorrow.

Sweet! Mind if I ask what prompted the layoff?
I guess I went through some depression back then, let go of my old '78 kz650, not sure why I did that. Afterward, I never saw any bikes that got my interest. This new bike finally got me interested. It looks just like the way my 650 was set up, only better!

I taught myself how to ride on my brothers 1972 Yamaha 650. He mistakenly left the keys When he was stationed in Germany back in the 70s. He wasn’t happy with all the dents and dings lol. My first motorcycle that I actually owned was a 1982 Honda CX500. I bought it within a week after being stationed at Ft Hood. Traded that in on a brand new Suzuki GS750T I totaled that one and bought a different color GS750TZ lol. That one got sold to buy a Winchester 94AE. Next was a Suzuki 750 Katana that eventually was traded in for a GSXR 750 and that was traded years later towards a BMW K100RS. I sold that and a couple of dirt bikes when my eye disease kicked in. No more riding for the Tankman. I’m envious of ya Brotha. May all the cage drivers see you and every curvy road be sand free.

Favorite bike I ever had was a 1983 Suzuki GS450L. I commuted 44 miles round trip everyday when I was in high school to work when the weather allowed, and sometimes when it didn't.

My parents made me wear a helmet, but when I hit the town limits, I would throw it in a ditch, then pick it up on the return home. Stupid...but I was a stupid teen. 😁

I loved that thing.

I had a 2003 GSXR600 Alstare Edition. Rode it for four years, and sold it for what I paid. Shoulda kept that one.

These super bikes are insane. I remember hitting 158 mph then making the mistake of sitting up. I about got blown off the back of the thing!

Hmmm thinked I learned some-ed thing-ed. The closer you have to get to with your car clicker to open your car, means the battery is getting weaker. After I went out to Harvest a battery after a -32 F-Word (not the evil PC freak supposed "Civil" C-Word for an Evil Metric Word!) it seems the click to open or lock car range has gotten longer.

So if I put my spare nuclear battery in there it should start from a longer range?

Just returned from the cabin. Today is our 14th anniversary. Cold, damp, and windy there, Sunday and Monday. Didn't realize we had very little firewood. Didn't take a chainsaw, so had to cut up a bit with a bow saw. First time in 76 visits there I didn't use any of my knives. Not one. Shameful really. Yesterday was beautiful. Peaked out at about 56°. Then cold again this morning. Rained, and even had some small sleet. Broke out the BK5. Was going to use it to baton, but couldn't make myself do it. After missing the 5 for so long, it didn't really appeal to me again. Not sure what my deal is.

Sorry Dubz. Ya just gotta remember that it’s not a 9. Start cutting up and frying some slab bacon and flipping it in the frying pan with the tip of that 5. Slice you and the misses a nice tomato, Snatch that grilled toast off the grate with the flat of the 5 like it’s a spatula. Spread you some Mayo with that sexy ass belly of the blade. You’ll be saying Mmmm Mmmm as bacon grease, mayo, mater juice, and toast crumbs are falling down the front of your shirt. Damn I like that 5

I really do like the looks of it, but for what I use knives for mostly, it just doesn't fit the bill. Although it's called a Magnum Camp, I don't feel like it's a good all rounder in that category, especially wood processing. Maybe I just don't get it, haha. It seems like most people use the 5 for food processing.

One of my 5s I have stripped and use it for food prep and bbq'n exclusively. The other I use for a bit of everything. Same with my 15s ... one is stripped and used for food. The others get used for whatever is needed when I have them. I do have to agree though I have not used the 5 for any wood processing, not that I don't think it will handle it, but I have better options.

Supposed to get down to 7° here tonight, 4° tomorrow night.

That's a shame about not falling back in love with the 5. I'm still lusting after one but as you've said I'd likely use it for large kitchen tasks, not wood processing. I've got far too many old axes that fill that role now. I should probably find a way to turn one or two of them into a 5, the axe rack it overflowing lol.

WOW! Every one is having HEAT WAVES!

Well tonight suppose to be around -25 F-Word, 71% Humidity plus wind chill factor.
