Same here, except for I use an M3 Turbo with some shave oil from Small Fart. Little tiny bottle lasts for months, as you only have to use a few drops. It's the only method I've discovered thus far that doesn't leave me feeling like I shaved with 80 grit.

I use.... soap.

Cheap safety razors naturally cut corners on steel quality and heat treatment. All that molding and assembly can't cost more for the fancy than it does for the disposable Bic's. Blade spacing matters and blade quality matters AND I believe, based on experience, that there IS a difference. I didn't want to believe it either.

Colt Python's are costing a ton of money these days, especially since Walking Dead became so popular. A good alternative for a lot less money is a Colt King Cobra.

How about a customized Diamondback?
You know, for the Lady. :D

Here they are, all together.

Nice looking razors Murph. I'm a fan myself. Also really like old school safety razors. Sort of a nice middle ground between straight razors and the numerous Mach (insert ridiculous blade number here) options.

I've been using a Feather Stainless razor and Feather blades for the last few years. Love it and it's less irritating for my sensitive skin.

Just watched my SIL, who I gifted with the ESEE/Becker Kitchen set, cut up a fresh pineapple with a sandwich knife. I have a knife block filled with a few Wusthof Tridents, all of which would have been a better choice than the one she used (OK, maybe not the paring knife). I had to leave the kitchen, lest I open my mouth and cause a scene. :crushed::cower:

Thanks Gus! I'm pretty pumped about them, it's something I've been wanting to try for awhile. The Mach 3 is the only razor I've used consistently since highschool. The blades are ridiculously priced. It's cheaper to buy a new razor with two replacement blades than it is to buy a 4 or 8 pack of blades. It's a lot of landfill waste as well as monetary waste.

That file knife looks mighty interesting at least. Excited to see what you come up with for a handle...

prolly a modified Wa-style handle, and then toss it in the kitchen block.
Maybe it should have been a dagger. Hm. next time.

The cost and landfill issues were also a motivator for me to switch. Bought a nice badger hair brush and some nice shaving soap and have never looked back. On road trips I'll use more conventional blades and shaving soap, but never when I'm at home.

Good looking razors Murph. I'm like Gus, I like the Gillette safety razors. It's all in the face prep.

I dont think Im going to shave anymore

Not sure if I can say this, even in the Snark....but I read on the internet...

A man who shaves his beard for no good reason,
should also shave his legs and his vagina.

While in the US Army, I had a good reason to shave and always used Dove soap in the mug and a boar bristle brush (30 or so years since I was a teenager). Six or seven years ago, my (now) ex-wife got me a badger hair brush (interesting trivia...she graduated from UW-Madison, who have Bucky Badger as the mascot) and it is soooo much softer than the boar brush. Now I just shave my upper cheeks and lower neck twice a week. I'm rocking a sort of "family patriarch" look now.

It's probably just us, but I as well really cringe whenever I see someone use the dullest butterknife in the drawer while the kitchen is littered with tons of knives better for the job. I see it at plenty family reunions. Some people just want to see the world burn.
