I know what you mean Todd. I find myself watching some of these so called "funny men", and I'm not really laughing at what they do. Actors like Ferrell and Rogan play the same characters in ever movie....themselves. They don't try to convince the audience that they are a certain character, because really they are just themselves.....regurgitating their old stand-up routines. And, we pay to see it over, and over and over again.

Ok, I'll give Ferrell a pass on Talledega Nights and Anchorman....Those are some good funny characters.

Rogan gets a pass on nothing....

I think you nailed it, and that's probably my hang up with them too. Talledega nights did crack me up but I thought guy that played his enemy in that movie was funnier. (his name escapes me). That Carrell fellow though I think is a little more diverse of a actor. Maybe that's what I like about him. I always like Jim Carey. not really because that I think hes overly funny. But the guy can act if you watch some of his more serious films. The fact that he spent a few years banging Jenny McCarthy warrants some respect too.
Sacha Baron Cohen, AKA Borat AKA Ali G.

Will Ferrell was different/good in Stranger Than Fiction.
I think those guys are funny enough, but then again, I haven't seen a lot of their movies (Talladega Nights was funny though); plus I have really low expectations for that sort of stuff.
I do find it interesting that taken out of their supposed "element" and given some good dramatic roles, all these guys really have some actual acting chops: Will Ferrell in Stranger Than Fiction, Jim Carrey in The Truman Show, John C. Reilly in Cyrus (Marisa Tomei ain't terrible either), Ricky Gervais in The Invention of Lying, Steve Carrell in Dan in Real Life (& The Way Way Back (convincingly unlikeable)) & even Adam Sandler in Punchdrunk Love.
I think Dan Castellanata and Billy West are two of the funniest guys I can think of, but Matt Groening probably deserves some credit for that also.

Crown is my favorite drink, i really like the regular crown as well. Not sure i can pick a favorite between the 2, i love em both lol.

Never tried Makers Mark. I need to though. I want to try some different bourbons. Only bourbon i ever tried was Jim Beam and Wild Turkey.

Well, Not that I would expect you to listen to anything that I suggest. But I just about promise you that you would love Makers Mark. You ought to try it. You don't have to tell anybody that you took it from me. ;)

lol I like Crown and Makers both, but Makers is very very good. Regular Crown I like more than the "Upgraded" Crown.
Plain ole Makers is very very good in Coke too, or just straight up. Really Crown and Makers are probably my 2 go 2 hard drinks besides Macallan Scotch

I took the tour at the Maker's Mark distillery once. The aroma in the warehouse where the barrels were stored made you want to cry.

I think I am going to fry up some loin and have a couple fancy beers to ring in the new year.

I've never tried Crown Royal or Maker's Mark. Not much for hard liquor most of the time.

Ill definitely give it a try! Black and tans became my favorite beer because of this snark thread, so i wont pass up a chance at a new tasty drink coming from anyone here. Looks to be a little cheaper than crown here too. Thats always a good thing :)

And Silver i love me some Macallan's, the 12 year isnt too pricey and still some good scotch IMO. Highland Park is pretty good as well i think.

Agreed, the 12 year is a fine Scotch, and not expensive. The difference in overall flavor between it and some of the more pricy levels is minimal at best. Dont get me wrong, the 20 year cask Macallan is very very nice, but when I think about how many bottles of 12 year I could buy for that, it just doesnt make sense.

I'm all out of Black & Tan and haven't been to Tenn. to replenish so I picked up some Bass and Guinness to make that version tonight.

I was hoping to have a quiet evening at home. But, the wife is dragging me to my mother in laws for New years festivities. Which it O.K. I guess. I Love my wifes Mom dearly, just hate to go out tonight. Gonna be a lot of drunken a$$holes running around tonight. Hell, I'll be one of them. Won't be driving though. Hope all you guys and gals have a good night tonight and a good start to the new year. Be safe! Talk to you guys next year! Lol.

We're going to my father in laws house tonight. Leave here in a bit. Sweet Italian sausage, pepper and onions, and God knows what else. Gonna have a few drinks, watch Lawless, then come home, haha.
