I don't usually wear ear protection with .22 in the backyard or with anything while hunting. If I am target shooting or sighting in a rifle or shotgun, I always use ear plugs, same with pistols. I have never shot at a shooting range, so I am definitely not a well trained safety nazi.

I am retrying to re-up and I don't remember is it the Authorize.net that is immediate and the paypal takes a couple days or is that backwards. I remember one of them needs to wait to get approved... Or has that changed?

So, uh, did uh, did anybody see a stray tee shirt blowin' down the road? I coulda swore I had one or two being knitted by a little, old, Quaker lady in a rocking chair. I guess she is taking a nap. :listening_headphone:barbershop_quartet_:indecisiveness::sleeping:

Since I perhaps opened up the can o' worms....

I wear poly-carbonate prescription lenses normally and safety glass certified tinted prescription lenses when in the sun. Ear pro at the range and when working with power tools or mowing in the yard. Don't use ear pro when hunting, but all I hunt now (when I get the chance) is wild pigs, and I used a suppressed short-barreled rifle for that. I stick a finger in my ear on the side facing him when my hunting partner lets loose with his .458 SOCOM.

My wife thinks I'm obsessive when I mow the lawn, but it helps keep the allergens out of my nose and lungs. The poison ivy still gets through, so I'm considering finding a Level A Hazmat suit with SCBA....

Ok, got some news on our house hunting, we didn't get the 1/2 acre because of the major upgrades it needed after searching around with my inlaws. We found a place and now we are just waiting for the paper work to get finalized. I've never had a pool and never thought I'd ever own a pool until this place. Summers are gonna be awesome with the 110 degree weather we get out here. There's a 3 car garage which I'd get 1 side for my shop. I'm so happy to finally have my own place and not have to rent anymore.

Awesome news, JD. Done deal? Sounds like it. Nothing like a pool....even when it's got a cover on it 9 months out of the year. We enjoy ours every chance we get - which is pretty much every day from the end of June through the beginning of September. Took me a while to figure out the maintenance routine, though.....

I'm with you hoss. It only takes once to ruin things forever. And for what? Laziness? I'm not losing an eye for something preventable. Ever shoot reloads? What happens if you get a faulty round and you get a KB? Not to mention, if you get sloppy about basic safety there, what else are you going to get sloppy about? Nor am I interested in permanent hearing loss, or constant ringing in my ears. I work around enough loud things as it is. I even wear ear muffs when I'm grinding blades. Nor do I want to become another statistic for that one crowd to point to.

Can't replace your eyeballs, and not being able to hear your favorite death metal band because it was "too hard" to prevent.....I know plenty of carpenters that can't hear or have tinnitus pretty seriously just from using framing nailers and such....I too, use ear and eye pro when using the belt grinder (as well as a respirator). Though I don't use ear or eye pro when shooting my air rifle. Not loud enough to warrant it, and the chance of something coming back at me is miniscule at most....though I do use ANSI rated sunglasses if it's daylight.

They got ear pro that amplifies sounds for hunting, but reduces those short sharp sounds (eg, gunfire). I just want them to make ones that also work as a bluetooth headset for my phone.
Not sure about Bluetooth, but Ryobi makes some that plug into your smart phone and use an app to mitigate percussive noises. Seem to work OK, though not as well as the active muffs I have from them.

did someone say safety?

the active ear muffs with electronic amplification and supppresion are pretty damn nice when hunting.

you can hear acorns dropping in the air, and get stereo directionals too. eery.

now, sadly, the dB rating on those is not as good as the giant blocks i wear over 33 dB max ear plugs, but probably is okay for .22 or not a lot of sustained heavy shooting with big dumb calibers :D

still, even WITH extra ear plugs, they work goodly

A buddy has those that amplify quiet sounds but blocked loud sounds or some crap... But like you said, doesn't help as much as the cheaper muffs when .270 and ARs are going off... And that's when we get the ear protection out.

Shooting rest arrives today. Wanted one of those Caldwell lead sleds... But went with a primos at half price... Don't care about recoil reduction, just want a steady rest.

Hard to beat a good marksman on a rest when your shooting off your shoulder lol.

They play battleship on paper targets at fifty yards with rimfire mostly... Cheaper than a good dueling tree.. Much more fun than just aiming at a bulls all day. There's a couple resetting targets set at 50 yards as well.. But at 50 yards there is no challenge to it with the Kidd. 3" targets... 1" at fifty is not difficult. ANYONE can shoot that rifle. In fact they say using it is cheating because no one that has shot that rifle, since the upgrades, has missed the resetting target.

Got a nice fire going this morning! Perfect weather for it too. Was in the low 40s this morning.

I wear ear protection for most everything... shooting, mowing, power tools, really intense copulation. I have some diminished hearing--partly genetic, partly because of an ear drum rupture when I was a kid--so I'm hanging onto what I have left. Like GSO, I wear a dust mask when mowing, simply because the grass particles have started to irritate me and sometimes leave me with chest congestion. In the fall, when I chop up leaves, I wear a full-on respirator. Who cares if we look like Tusken Raiders, right GSO?

I don't really need to use ear protection when out hunting roo's with the boomerang. The 'whop whop whop' is rarely loud enough to warrant it. As for eye protection, I've only been hit in the face on the return about half a dozen times. I'm still gorgeous though..

Are you making meth or hooking up with a nasty gal you met in the parking lot of a taco shop?

 It gives the neighbors something to talk about...

Would this be by Colonial or Continental standards? :D

Looks like a Level C suit, perhaps? I'm still jonesing for a Level A...

All these comments about safety reminds me of the movie Bubble Boy. Hahah

Anybody have an idea on how to get a ventalation system going for a room within a room? I'm gonna need to build a grind room in the garage to contain the grind particles.

Almost forgot, I you sent me an old KaBar without paper work, please email me. You know who you are.
