Why hello! I still like to do cool things - actually going on a hike Friday thru Sunday! I haven't been active mostly due to school. I have been doing school/work/internships non-stop for a couple years including the summer. Got myself a fancy Bachelor of Arts in English just a couple days ago though, so that's sweet. Even have a job interview on Monday. I also got married - and I like doing wife things. :D Hope to pop in here a bit more often now that I'm not studing like a crazy person! I've missed y'all!

Hi there Cap! Glad you're well and that does sound like you have had a lot on your plate. I'm sure you're looking forward to a bit of woods time though! And I must say congrats on getting married and obtaining your degree. That's super cool! Anyway we all miss you too and do very much look forward to seeing you here again. Best of luck with the job interview Cap'n. All the best. Make sure you show us pics of your hike!

Springy..

New toy. Haven't had one in a long time.

He said flint and steel. Different procedure.
Ahhhh, so he did! My bad! I thought he was talking about using a firesteel and knife.
How would you use a knife for a "flint and steel" fire?!

Looks a lot like the Mudbug I bought at Blade. Smith and Sons' riff on the Sodbuster. Made by GEC.

Jeff told me to go check them out at Blade, I didn't get over there though. I kind of need to check them out still.

Well, the dishwasher crapped out this morning after only 10 years of use. Had to spend 1/2 hour bailing the water out of it. Pulled out the dead one. Went and bought a new one. Got one that was the same brand and size as the old one. Got home, unboxed it and started installing it. Here's the bad part - the new dishwasher has a 3/4" GH (garden hose) fitting for the water supply. The old one had a 3/8" compression fitting, just like the last 3 I've had. So now I have to drive 25 miles to the store for a 3/4" GH to 3/8" compression adapter.

So my rhetorical question of the day is --- Why the hell do they do crap like that? Who uses a damn garden hose to supply water to their dishwasher?

hit the flint on the back of the knife instead of a dedicated striker. as long as its a high carbon steel it will work the same way. my 14 works really well

The Mud Bug is nice, but its bigger than the Sodbusters I have seen, by a decent amount. I would love one in the small sodbuster size

Pretty well made SOT 'yak (thick poly) at T.J. Maxx for $169.

That sux...imma answer anyway...
It will use a hose like your washing machine. If you really wanna pimp it you can get the braided like the pros... Although I can say, of the many....many...I have installed, I have yet to see this...that's plain dumb. Everything off that sink line uses 3/8. I guess it's suppose to be super fast fill to make it seem like "wow this new DW is soo fast, imma tell all my friends!". These ppl pay others to do their installs...they're not like us...

But the fill line is still a standard 3/8" braided supply line. So it won't fill any faster than the "old" way. They just put a plastic GH fitting on the solenoid inlet valve instead of a standard compression fitting. The adapter is simply an "L" shaped piece of 3/8" copper pipe with a 3/8" male compression fitting on the long leg and a female GH fitting on the short leg. Not the dumbest thing I've ever encountered, but right up there on my "Top Ten" list.
