Sweet anvil Todd!

Sorry your weekend was ruined WW. :thumbdn: I suggest setting up the hammock and having a few drinks and a good smoke or two and chalk that one up to giving family a chance.

I've been up since 4am and really want to go to bed, but its only 1940 :( time for a drink!

WW - if you google "florida boy scout troops", links to the various Florida BSA Councils pop up. A council is the administrative district that covers a geographic area e.g., the Texas Capitol Area Council covers all troops in Texas within about 50-60 miles of Austin. You have a couple of years before your son will be old enough for for Cub Scouts, so there's no hurry.

Florida councils and headquarters locations
Central Florida Council - Apopka
South Florida Council - Miami Lakes
Gulf Stream Council - Palm Beach Gardens
Gulf Ridge Council - Tampa
North Florida Council - Jacksonville
Southwest Florida Council - Fort Myers
West Central Florida Council - Seminole

WW, im sorry but im laughing my ass off at your tales of woe concerning your weekend.... not at your situation or in spite, just because I have been in your shoes more than once and know what you had to deal with...... As much as people that love the outdoors want to share the experience with people that are close to them (or maybe even not close but likeable) fact is, shitty people are always going to be shitty people no matter what the environment is. Anymore I tend to be very picky on who I take to the woods with me, I love being with nature, and don't get to be In it near as much as I like. So, if im out camping, hiking, fishing, hunting with anyone, I make sure its with someone that I feel Im privileged to be there with..... If not, I don't extend the effort. Might sound like a dick thing, but I cherish my time with nature. I refuse to have what limited time I have suck.

HAHA!! All very well said but that big part... Man that describes it perfectly!!

My wife's entire argument for me to keep my mouth shut about the situation was based on the fact we move soon and she didnt want the last time we all hung out to suck... I said baby, despite your best efforts, she is making it suck!!

Oh well. We tried. Just less than 4 weeks and a wake up.

Just traded for a BK5. Looking forward to getting it. Never had one before, and have been curious about them for some time.

I get it, I understand her logic, but still it did suck, overall for you. Had it been me, id lit them up, but I'm a little older and grumpier than you. I just hate putting up with bullshit for the so called greater good. I recently quite a 20-year career mind you because of such crap. On the flip side, it sucks thats that is going to be one of your last experiences where your at...... All because you was trying to be cool. This day and age I don't bother bringing drama with me when I hit the outdoors.

so imagine that for some reason, you pull up your carpet, in your floor, standard 2x8s or 2x10s with hangers, with plywood on top and all that, in the middle of a normal floor, you know, with a real basement and everything down there, and you find a weird patch job of 2x4s... and under that, a poured slab of cement over 2000 lbs and it's kinda boxed in and hanging from a lolly column, and what?

so i spend my entire day removing about 90% of that, and tomorrow is the remained and cleanup, and then reframing the floor proper.

GEEEEEEEEZ.

"handy people"

i have pictures, but i'm not sharing them "in the open"

That sounds freaking awesome...as an electrician, imagine the "handy work" I run into. That stuff is way more than a risk to property. Even worse than homeowners "handy work" is maintenance techs...man, if you could see some pics I've taken over the years. And from guys who are suppose to be at least (you'd think) mechanically inclined.
The most fun is when I get a call about "the fire Marshall did an inspection today and...." That's when the dollar signs start popping up. Not that I take advantage of the situation but the fact that it's going to be inspected so there's no "patching it up and making it safe", usually it's rip it all out and start from scratch. About where your at lol. Had another of these scenarios Friday.

It's a helluva knife I'll give you that! I been thinking about picking up another one, for S&G basically since I have one already!

If I was local, I'd come help ya but I'm not. Sorry. That sounds like a hell of a job though! Were you able to use the tractor for that? Or was it actually IN the house?

I got one for ya... One of the outlets in my room is on 4 different circuits. There is NO way without flipping the main to kill power to that outlet.

Testing, testing, is this thing on?
Nope, it's broken!

Yeah this is IN the house, IN the floor joists, just floating there. Looks like they tried to make a fire proof area for a stove but really made a trap... That section of basement is for my shoppe so I had to see why this boxed column deal. Wow. If that had ever let loose with a wood stove? Doom. Or with a shoppe below? Death.

Electrical. I can do some, but I know limits fast. I need to hire a GOOD guy. Also plumbing.

So, I wasn't planning on doing masonry today, that the outdoor hobby with tractor and logging and stuff :)

Just getting over a flu. So, not feeling it :)

Help good, mostly grunt labor, so you know, it takes time. Who knew?

We fould this old timer, the condition is a little rough, but not so bad that it can't be brought back to good condition. The price was on the low side of the going per pound rate, so Murph and I halfed the cost and added it to the T.M.Hunt arsenal. It's about twice the poundage of my other one, and since we bought a forge at Blade show it ought to be fun to play with.

Overall even though we didnt land a trailer and it rained half of the day, it was a good time.

nice haul...

great trailers... prices too high, walk. get something newer cheaper?

Your definitely right. It did suck. You can believe i wanted to say something many times through out the day/night... But id still be dealing with the wife now if i had.

The wife did say she wanted to go out for 1 more over-nighter to redeem this one. But i suggested against it. Just too close to the move, especially by the time we plan it out and reserve a spot, we got too much to do on the weekends for the move, and we just spent the money to go twice in the last 3 weeks.

The rest of living in Philly sucked. This experience will blend right in.

Me and the wife did have some fun once the kids went to bed. I got her with.... "come here, i have to inspect you closely for ticks" :D

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Way off topic... My wife has never had a tick bite her. The kids have gotten them, Hell i have had hundreds prolly in my life.. 1 this trip and 2 last, but my wife... never. Her and Neko are always good to go. Neko gets that once a month sentry tick/flea stuff and it seems to work great. Im thinking maybe the wife has been dosing herself in it :D

And to just avoid a back to back post...

Im wondering why having more than 1 virus protector on my computer puts it at risk?? Seems like double the protection would be good. I bought Mcafee, norton came free from the internet service providers. I dont really have a preference/know any differences ... Does it really cause an issue to have 2, or is this a ploy to get you to spend more money with them ???

Pretty sure 2 anti-virus is a problem waiting to happen. It may just be in internal conflicts, but I think they both look at each other askew and the problems can start there. Both trying to check a new thing out at the same time and realizing that something is odd (the program is being checked out by the other anti-virus) as it is checking it out.

One good one should cover you. And I certainly don't consider Norton or McAfee to be good ones. The anti-virus coverage may be just fine, but they put too much other junk on your computer as well. I'm an AVG or Avast man myself.

Someone that speaks the speak hopefully will chime in with a real answer - and correct me where I'm wrong on my anti-virus preferences (please).
