If folks want to argue political stances on hunting, then by all means pony up for a paid membership and use the Political subforum. Bias is going to run about 99-1 pro-hunting in this subforum anyway, and we don't want to get into issues of dogpiles or accusations of trolling. Please take it to the right venue in the first place.

I'm guessing judging from your reactions that this sort of discussion has gone "bad" in the past?
And your reaction is based on the assumption it will again?, (assumption aren't facts)

That's not the case, if you had let things play out itself,

Jumping to Defcon 1 every time some one brings up a subject that hits a nerve is most likely the very thing that would stoke flames where there were non to being with, (it's a very insecure reaction)

If things remain sane, civilized, calm, etc, then let them be,

If things get crazy, uncivilized, hot, etc, then calmly quell the situation (without the extra baggage)

Btw, if there was a prerequisite to blood sports to buying a Becker I think it safe too say you would not make the majority of sales,
(I'm guessing it's safe to say sales world wide the majority of buyers do not take part in such pastimes, even within the US) so global, or even local, you are the minority, that the majority is not equal represented here is more of a reflection of you and the forums, (judging from your reaction I can see how that would happen)

If this is not what you want (as this in turn directly reflects on Becker himself, as he not only takes part in these forums but is also a mod here) then may I suggest you be more tolerant to other people's point of view?

So do you want to reflect the fans of Becker knives, or the interests of a clique?
(if the clique, maybe you are on the wrong forum?, this is meant for knives, right?)

we're not over sensitive. we're mods. there are over reaching rules for the entirety of bladeforums, and there are sub-forum rules. we're here to keep SOME peace.

once you cross a grey line into various political/contentious/emotional talk that per by laws, we ask that it moves "over there", as it's no longer appropriate. we're not even rules lawyers about it sometimes, but when we request such, it's probably a good idea to heed.

wanna blow out bambi's brains cuz it's fun? good for you! contentious talk about it? how about it "over there" in the proper forum where loud voices and screaming are encouraged with cheer leaders and naked babes :D

But there wasn't anything other than peace, (show me the contrary)
It was the over reaction of those not involved,

we're not cops, and this isn't a free speech station. please read the full bladeforums rules and etiquette if you're not sure.

we're just volunteers that have seen the same old same old.

we recognize certain markers, and tones of voice, and politely request that you move it along.

stepping in for Guyon since he's perhaps not here...

Ethan is God here. we are his minions. Guyon is a mod if that was not clear. I am also a mod.

Ethan has our back in matters most reasonable. i've owned his product since 1982 give or take.

we're not a clique. the forum has rules. we started this sub-forum and work for Ethan. we try to give people a fair shake.

ultimately though, Spark owns this forum, and his rules are law.

please read the rules. by the way, trolling, baiting, and sassing the mods are serious offenses. a super mod will be along to probably supervise if not before.

speaking as a mod, my opinion doesn't matter, your opinion doesn't matter. the rules and the spirit of them matter.

Assumption is not fact,

Thats like trying too shoot someone who's going for his wallet, when you think it was a gun....

I don't mind preemptive as long as it's a valid judgement,

I have never put anyone on my ignore list, but I'm sure tempted.

Same here. Im just ignoring "manually" now.

Sounds kind of like me and vacation. Except vacation is coming sooner!!!!!

WOOOHOOOO!!!!

Ready for a bit of time off!!!!!

Maybe excited a bit!!!!!

!!!!

I'm not sure what all this post means, but I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever heard anyone talk smack about Cricket.

But then again I haven't heard much talk about Cricket at all.

What's a Pom?

it's a shorter and slightly more polite version of an unkind reference to the denizens of England and their supposed illegitimacy.

HAHAHA!!! I kind of had the same thought when i read that post... But he sounded so excited i almost wanted to root for them too :D

Me too. I didn't want to rain on his parade, but I seriously don't know much about Cricket other than it can last forever and have really high scores.

Yeah I was hoping to spark a little friendly rivalry among the Aussie/Pommy residents in here. Obviously didn't take too well :D

I loves me cricket. Especially test cricket. Long, slow days of captains strategy versus captains strategy. To people from countries that don't play cricket, the game seems like a slow boring bunch of nonsense that has too many rules. Believe me, there are plenty of aussies that think that as well. But when one understands the game, it's like watching chess being played out on a field. To me it's glorious.

And yes DunkEm, the scores can get quite high. The highest score ever achieved in an innings was in 1938 by England. 903 runs. And they declared too, which meant that they weren't all out but decided they'd had enough and thought that we would like to go in to bat (that's one reason it's called the gentlemens game).

Google search "what Americans think of cricket" and watch some if the youtube vids. Hilarious! (and that's not meant in a mean way, I completely understand some of the responses :D)

Oh, and Dubz, that vid of that dude making that hut was simply amazing. I've watched it several times so far and I'm still picking up my slack jaw. Unbelievable. And it says he made it from wattle and daub. I know wattle is an Australian native and it looks suspiciously like he scavenged bark from a melaleuca tree (paperbark..One of the only trees in the world you can ring bark without killing the tree). The bush really looks like the northern Australian rain forest too. Wherever he is, that vid was incredible..
