Rk, I was at a wedding dance and had more than my fair share of Jim Beam. I'm thinking that I should sleep well tonight.

WW - No, I haven't seen a single episode. Who's in it?

Auraria - doin' fine. I'm at work right now but it has been a qiuet one so far.

ac - Whatcha drinkin'? If it's Shiner I'll be there in about 16 hours. Save some for me.:D
Ahh! Nevermind. I'll just stop at the store before the Cowboys crush the Giants!!!!

I suck with actors names. But the main star is Frank Grillo.

Its about fighting... Good stuff if your into watching that type stuff.

Waiting for the 2nd part of a hunters safety course to start. I will have to keep quiet because the instructors have odd views on knives and survival priorities.

Amanda will be my filter today.

Would be interesting to find out what those priorities might be.

K then in a survival situation the first thing I need to find is hookers and coke!

Something tells me depending where I am...I'll die before I find them!

I received something very cool last night. I'm appreciative and very proud to have it.

That is awesome Trade! Very special indeed.

There are a couple things I have been trying to get my hands on of my grandfathers. (Cause I am trying to make sure they get taken care of instead them getting "taken care of" by others) His funeral flag, and his certificate for being part of the group of sailors who witnessed the atomic testing at Enewetak Atoll onboard the USS Oak Hill. These are the kinds of things that could never be replaced.

That's really sweet, Trade!

On a sidenote, just chekin' in to say hi. Hi, and I need a BK4... Thinking :-).
Busy busy busy, will post up soon...

Hey, G! Yes, it's true, you do need a Machax.
When I get my sh..tuff together, I got a thread I'm gonna post with you in mind. No fossils, but me and the girls spent the afternoon in an old mica mine. Lotsa rocks and minerals, and a few semi-precious gems. Plus it's just a cool place and as a bonus, close to trailbum's house (Northeast Gathering).

I was looking into getting my first strop and I was looking at the flexxx field strop and the knives plus strop block, any opinions?

1....2...3......?

Pass or fail?

FAIL.

Let me try posting more than 1 word again.......

High Flat. This type of grind is pretty self explanatory and shown in the diagram. The main grind is flat, and ends closer to the spine are of the knife. Where things can get confusing with this type of grind (and a full flat grind) is the secondary bevel. It can be a v-grind, a convex grind, or a compound grind (which is multiple angles of a v-grind closely simulating a convex grind).

People tend to get confused because someone will say that they put a “convex edge” on their knife. It often gets interpreted as a full convex (referenced earlier). Obviously, putting a full convex edge on a high flat ground knife would be very difficult. What they are usually talking about is the secondary bevel has been put on with a convex profile. To see more about doing this, and how to do it, please visit the sharpening area of this website.
