SNG rant

If you own or have owned a Strider it's easy to separate the BS from the factual experience.

Pics are like words...you can post anything on this or any other forum.

Very true.

Even before I owned my 1st one when I was doing research I saw the same post or story countless times over and over again in different threads.

It's hard to go though all the BS to get to the truth.

First, if the OP is happy with his knife, I'm glad. -Good for him. If you have a Strider (or have had 7-8, or 20) without any problems, good for you too.

But, if you require pictures for every issue here on this forum, you're not going to take much away from here. Except, maybe the pleasure of typing your own opinion on things. Infact, to me, that's a damn foolish statement to make: "no pictures, it didn't happen." -Pretty foolish. And then if someone puts something on youtube or post pictures of a problem with a knife, he gets his balls busted becasue he didn't send it in before spreading the problem around.
Yeah, 90% of the people with knife problems never had or touched one, they just don't like the brand. Wow. Thank God people can think for themselves.

By the way, I've traded about 20 knives on this forums (several worth $400+) and have only ever posted one(1) picture here in 4 years. I just must be magic becuase thankfully all the guys I traded with seemed to think the knives I had to offer were real.

In the end, I know it's nothing personal. Some will love and stand up for thier companies no matter what. Others face reality, live, learn, and are willing to spread thier actual experiences. If you read the whole thing, you can always take something away from a thread like this, one way or the other. Still, sometimes you'll have to blow your money to find out the truth no matter how many of these you read.

Glad it worked out well for the OP. Even though lots of crap is said about striders, I think they look pretty sweet

Don't believe everything you read as most of it is pure BS. ;)

They don't have as many problems as some like to make it appear they do.

Wow! So you're calling everyone a liar who is mentioning their problems with Strider!?!

It seems like the majority of people that chimed in have had problems. Whether it's bladeplay, pivot action is too tight, they're overpriced or Strider's CS sucked. I've seen people selling Striders because they sent it in to be fixed and it came back the same way and they were honest enough to mention it in their sales thread.

You seem to be either ignorant believing that people are lying because your one experience was different than a lot of the ones mentioned here. Or you're suffering from a case of fanboy denial.

Because it's typical and predictable, nothing new.

It's real easy to say you owned a $500 knife without posting photos of it then complain about it. ;)

I haven't seen any photos from any of the complainers so take that for what you will, likely just people that can't afford them so they bash them, must be because there isn't any proof any of them owned one in this thread at all. If they never owned one then they are just talking about something they know nothing about and or listening to others who never owned one.

Photos or it never happened.

It's all a conspiracy of lies made up to make Strider look bad! I always thought it would take having mental problems to be a Burger... Whoops I mean Strider fanboy.

And for some strange reason Strider has been singled out and other companies don't get the same critisism over and over and over like Strider does. So it must be a conspiracy by people that never handled a Strider.

Or wait there's the logical explanation... It's being said because a boatload of people have actually had the problems they speak of.

If you believe the things you're saying please seek psychiatric help.

Why is it somebody whom hasn't had problems with a Strider is a fanboy? I had zero problems with the multiple Striders I owned, yet own none at the moment. At the same time, 3 of the 4 Sebenzas I have owned had problems from blade play(yes imagine, bladeplay even with the pivot bushing), off-centered blades and chipped lock faces causing extremely difficult disengaging. In spite of those problems, I've edc'ed a Seb for the better part of 4 years straight. Go figure:confused:
Maybe potential buyers should check around the net on other forums to see how Striders are viewed. They aren't perfect, but they aren't as bad as how they're portrayed here at times.

Totally agree with you. Seems to go both ways. People that have problems get borned and people that dont get burned heheh

What how many is all?

You have one, the OP has one and mongomondo had one so that's 3 problems out of how many people who were complaining?

Think about that one for a min. ;)

Oh really, what about Cold Steel as a target?

How many people have been burned telling fairy tails here on this forum about Cold Steel knives they never owned? ;)

Talk about dog piling. LOL

Have you not been reading the thread? If you go back and look you will see there are more than three people that are not happy with Strider.

There's a difference between not liking the company and not liking the knives.

I love my Strider knife, but I don't like the company. Many people like the knives, the most complaints I've seen are from the company. You also have to sift through the bullshit posted by people that have never owned a Strider knife and just state what they think are "facts."

Why is this thread still going? The OP got pissed because something happened to the knife hindering the opening of his knife, he finally took advice from a "fan boy" and guess what? Problem solved. So why are people still trying to convince people that Strider's are so bad? Get over it, if you don't like 'em then why are you even posting here? Why post in a thread if you're not trying to help? Go away, people have their own taste in knives. Soooo sorry if you have something against people liking a certain type of knife. Pretty immature behavior if you ask me. :thumbdn:

Striders are great knives! Great company! Although, not for everyone-sell it and get a Sebenza!!!

I posted several comments in this thread about my issues with striders. I dont believe anyone has discredited me personally. But to say that people without pics to back up their problems with striders are full of BS ??? I do have some pics that I will share with you. The pics are of my 2 SNG's, long gone by the way not to be replaced by any more striders. Out of my 3 striders, only the green/stonewashed SMF remains. I did reprofile the blade and uneven grind on my sharpmaker after working on it for aprox 2 hours and using the old sharpie trick. When I got it, it was pre-owned, but still had the factory edge, only it was dull. It opens nicely and IF ALL striders were like this, I would surely own more. Its everything a strider Should be.....

After my experience with my SMF, I shortly bought a green/camo tanto SNG. The blade was only slightly off centered. Not so much at the end, but the blade near the tang on the G-10 side would grind into the G-10 a little making it hard to open. It was very difficult most of the time. After looking at it, I figured it was just not for me. It was not as bad as my third one I am going to mention, but it was not close to the smoothness of my SMF.
Below are pics of my green/camo tanto SNG. You can see the slightly off-centered blade. The other pics show the pivot and that its hard to open.....yeah right !!! How am I supposed to show pics of a knife hard to open ??? Had many scuffs from the factory. This was bought New from strider.

These pics are of my third and Last strider. It was a SNG black/digi tanto. I felt it would be the ultiate tactical after looking at pics of it. It had an uneven blade grind. The one side, you can see the blade grind goes up the tanto a little. The other side at the end was non existant and the camo went to the edge. I do not have a pic of this, only a pic of after I evened it up on the sharpmaker. I feel I did a pretty good job, but it should have been this way from the factory and should have never left the factory with basically no edge on the last 1/8" from the tip. This was bought New from Strider. The last pic will show the badly off-centered blade. I did not think a blade could be more off centered ??? How can strider allow a knife this uncentered to leave the factory ??? Also had many scuffs from the factory as well. Some of you want pics, here you go.

What the heck happened to that Tanto with the Dig Camo, the edge looks blunt.

Pictures do help a lot.:)

No excuses for those problems I agree 100%.

The top pic ( digi-camo tanto ) looked like this from the factory. My other green tanto actually had a point where the tanto and main blade edge met. The other side ( bottom pic digi camo tanto ) had NO main blade grind at the main edge. The camo came down to the edge. It was like they stopped grinding the last 1/8" from the tanto tip. I evened it up to the other side to make it look uniform. I feel I did a good job, but this should never have come from the factory this way. I WISH I had a pic to show you as it was horrible, but I did not take a before pic. The off centered blade is horrible though and I am glad I have a pic to share with my fellow members. Strider definately has some of th worst QC I have ever seen. All I know is in my job, If I let work go out the door like that, I would have been fired Long ago.

That's really bad, I agree. :(

Thankfully they have improved 10 fold since you got yours, all 3 of my SmF's are perfect.

I think some of it is were you get them from too.

I got 2 of mine from Blue Line Gear and the other from Knife Art.

I bought these in the 4th quarter of 2009..........I am glad you got a couple of good ones. Probably the only good ones they made all year. My SMF is great, these 2 with issues were SNG's
