SNG rant

Totally agree with you. Seems to go both ways. People that have problems get borned and people that dont get burned heheh
Maybe it happened to you because you posted dozens of of times about how fantastic and flawless your new Sebenza was, told everyone to buy one 'cause "they won't be dissapointed", then realised that the blade was off center, started a thread bashing CRK about it, and ended up getting a knew knife.

Or not.

PS, how's that off center Yuna work'in out for ya?

Hey guys, Have a quick question for those experienced with Striders. I recently picked up an SNG G-10 and while the lock up is solid with no blade play when the knife is open, there seems to be a little play when the knife is closed or in between closed to open position. Is this normal for SNG's, and if not is there a way to fix this?

Thanks

I had this on one of my SNG's. It was not side to side, But Up & Down. It did not effect anything, but bugged the heck out of me. It felt when working it that the blade hole was too large. it was quite noticable though. Very weird.

Yes it's normal, but it just a little play, not a rattle or anything. ;)

Solid as a bank vault when open though. :)

Thanks, yeah it is minimal play and i'm glad to hear it's normal. The knife is solid on lock up, but like everyone else it's hard not to inspect every aspect of it given the price.

For that kind of coin I have higher expectations, if I turned in work that was only slightly "sloppy" and said it was "normal" I would be unemployed. At least it's out there now

It's designed that way....

According to Strider all the problems from bladeplay to offecentered blades are designed that way. It's kind of like when a kid falls off his bike and he says" I meant to do that." IMO. It sounds like a lot of excuses to me. Why on earth would anyone design or want a knife to have bladeplay??

Not when it's open......

It's like a Military issue 1911, made with just a little play in the action so if mud or something gets in there it won't jam it up.

Ever seen a Military issue AK-47?

They rattle.....

But you can bury one in the mud then pull it out and fire it full auto and it won't jam.....

People seem to forget that Strider SmF's and SnG's are designed for the Military.

Yeah, buddy. Let's not forget that legendary Strider military connection. You betcha!

I knew it was just a matter of time 'til this subject came up.

I dont care who they were made for !!! Poor Quality and QC is NO Excuse on a $500 Knife...........If I let product go out the door at work like this, I would be fired...... Lets buy a gun with a bent barrel, a stock that wobbles, bolt that flopps up and down........If it still shoots, does that mean the Quality and QC is acceptable and the company should keep cranking them out that way and not Try to fix the problem ???

A pivot hole that is too large for the pivot doesn't show up in open locked position because of 3 point lock up forcing blade forward.

No reason for that much clearance unless tolerances wander...seems to be the case from the posts. "Designed that way" is marketing hype.

It was actually Pee Wee Herman who said that and we all know how things turned out for him...

Yeah, I know it's off-topic, but this thread went off-track a while back.

Man! the Strider thing again... Everyone knows Strider is only as good as each individual believes them to be. I hardly think you can have an opinion on the knives themselves unless you have owned one, the price ANYONE can see is TO HIGH.. I have owned two SNGs and loved them, that being said I can't go along with the crazy-high price tag. That being said, 3 days ago I almost pulled the trigger on a Ranger Green SMF-RW1 for $500. But upon carefully analyzing what I was about the spend $500 on,(Pocket Knife) I realized I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing I pissed away that kind of money on a folding pocket knife. It seems insane to think about.. But this is just my opinion, the knives are outstanding, but not worth $400 to $500.... LOL, That being said, if I had plenty of money sitting around, I would probably own 10 Striders....

When a $30 dollar knives has issues.....it's a piece of junk.

When a Strider has issues...it's got character and a unique design.

LMAO....those Emperors clothes SURE are nice.

When a $30 knife has issues, you got what you paid for.
When a $500 knife has issues, you got kinda ripped off.
At least with the $500 knife you can get warranty work done, although admittedly you should not have to.
Of course, my brand new Spyderco titanium Military just had to be taken apart to spring the lock-bar further over to eliminate slight vertical wobble, which shouldn't have been necessary on my nice new $300 knife, yet you won't see me(or many other folks) bashing Spyderco. Lock wore in, reached ramped part of tang, not enough spring to contact hard enough(had it since last Tuesday; not a long time). Things happen in real life, even when by all rights they should not.

True, because that's different because it's Spyderco...... :jerkit:

Now if that was a Cold Steel or Strider then it would be more Dog Piling. :jerkit:

I don't have any comment on what happened because I could care less about Spyderco. ;)
