SNG rant

I bought these in the 4th quarter of 2009..........I am glad you got a couple of good ones. Probably the only good ones they made all year.

Oh, I have had mine longer than you......

I got 2 of mine from Blue Line Gear and one from Knife Art and they do check them for QC before sending them.

I think its funny that a Strider Dealer will check them, but Strider Doesn't......lol. Very Poor QC. So judging from when I got mine and you got yours, Striders have gotten Worse instead of better !!! I cured my problem with them, I will just not buy anymore.

This on in Sept 09

Really they should be checked by Strider before they leave and the Dealer when they get them just like any product so if one misses something the other will catch it before the Customer gets it.

The Dealer is the buffer between them and us so it's their job to check and send them back for QC problems. The customer should NEVER get one with a problem if the Dealer is checking them before sending them out.

In the end, Strider should just do a better job.....Period. I would be embarrised sending out such poor quality grinds, tight pivots, and un-centered blades. Maybe I should have gotten mine from a dealer, instead of strider directly.

I am not disagreeing with you. :)

My point is that if a dealer gets a bunch in with problems and sends them right back then it will get their attention, Strider will know they have a problem and if it continues etc they can fix it.

But if nobody looks...... ;)

That really goes for any product that is made and sold.

I couldn't agree more. And then having cruddy CS adds insult to the injury of recieving a knife that they should have QCed in the first place.

I hear what your saying.......but for the money spent $500, Strider should not have to rely on a dealer to catch their errors. They Should be good to go when they leave the strider factory. Its just poor QC. You see 100% better QC on a $40 BUCK 110. Its not like I am the only one to ever experience a problem like this. At the time of these 2 strider problems I had, no emails were returned and no phone calls were answered. I tried for 1 week in each instance. I am sure anyone that went through what I did would no longer buy strider.........I am a huge CRK fan. If 2 of my first 3 CRK were this bad, I would not have bought more. Since I have not had problems with CRK of this nature, it basically allowed me to acquire 30 of them in various forms. I have read where people have had a flawed CRK, I am sure it happens. BUT CRK customer service will take care of you. Out of all my CRK, I only ever had 1 issue and Chris Reeve called me personally to tell me why it happened, what was the cause, and what he wa going to do about it. Excellent CS like this is what makes me to continue to support CRK.

I've had my Strider SnG DGG for about 16 months now, it's been great to me. Had the Strider boys clean out the loctite when I went down there with a friend to have his SnG loosened up. I guess I'm spoiled living within driving distance of them. Great CS in person, good guys to chat with.

Someone isn't looking at everything like they should be at Strider, they are dropping the ball more than they should be. Likely one of the QC people is missing things they shouldn't be.

Bucks are not hand fitted etc, they are made by machines and mass produced so it's an apples and oranges thing.

Maybe you need to pass the word along to them. :D

Is it possible they were out of the shop, serving one week sentences in Somalia?:p

I know they are not the same, but I have had many Buck Knives and have had no problems with them........When you spend $500, you expect quality and near perfection ( nothing is perfect ). Strider is a Major Namebrand and for them to put out a product like this Often is only going to hurt the in the long run. It would not take much for them to have a little more attention to detail. I like my SMF, but after having 2 bad SNG's in a row, bought about 6 weeks apart says something. Especially when they were bought right from Them. The Whole Quality and QC issue is just very sad.......Also the whole thing about paying for return shipping also. If I messed something up and sent it to them to fix, I would expect to have to pay return shipping. But for me to pay for return shipping for something that should have never left their location.....is rediculas. They definately need better business practices.

Oh I know, someone is not looking when they should be and that needs to be addressed. ;)

No I wouldn't expect them to be 100% perfect, but when you are putting about custom blades they do need to be checked IMO because they are people who are doing the work.

Definitely something needs to be adjusted. My EDC SNG snaps out with a flick of my thumb using the hole in the blade. Its almost like its assisted. I had an identical SNG but sold it...cant see wearing this one out.

I think I should say a couple things. Strider knives do have their qualities. Good ergos, good HT, tough/design etc. If they would only invest a little and step up their CS, QC and f&f so they consistently produce the " good ones" they could be one of the undisputed best in the business.

I agree, they are only hurting themselves if they dont. People will start going elsewhere ( like me ). Once you get a bad rep, its hard to get customers back, let alone getting new ones.
