Society is breaking down, ya have to move on...what knife ?

I think I would go with my JK Anniversary Knife. It's a great all-around fixed blade with a comfortable handle, and I keep it in a Spec Ops sheath with a Leatherman Wave in the side pouch - which makes for a nice combo. The edge is also convexed, which means that I could touch it up using a leather belt or fabric if necessary.

Of course, if society really does start to break down, I intend to go out in style. In that case, it might make sense to carry a Becker Necker, which is a nice, durable EDC-sized knife that also happens to have an integral bottle opener. If it's all falling apart, I intend to wander over to the liquor store while everyone else is looking for practical goods. The bottle opener will come in handy at that point.

All the best,

- Mike

Jesus, if I wanted a sales pitch, I'd turn on the frickin' television.

sorry, if that is aimed at me, brother.

i was just trying to explain my reasoning for the tool.

....and what's television? is that that funny blue fire that all the couch potatoes get their ideas in front of...?

I like the idea of the Ecohawk. Looks useful.

Your post would have been better received if you ditched the Ecohawk and cut the boxspring up with a Randall 14. Everyone knows that anything other than a Randall 14 is simply inferior.

Probably a Randall 14. Problem is, I'm not sure which 14 - I've got three of 'em.

Well...just take them all. Better to have them to use if one is damaged or to barter with than them being left behind for the looters.

Forgot to say I may have changed my mind to this (mine has a tiger pattern slabs). Good for nearly any task, sturdy enough to not worry about it ever breaking and shiny enough to trade for a woman if the need arises :D:

does anyone listen to reason, a 10 dollar machete, borang, porang, will out cut, and perform more task than most of the blades you guys have posted, do you believe they have some kind of magical powers because they are made of some special super steel that has been honed by the spirits and blessed by angels. or are you just advertising.

Hi all,

Pitdog, Here is what I would most likly have on my belt at the time of this event.
A SERE 5.5

IMG_0351.jpg

It has a 5.5" long blade and is 5/32" thick. I have used it so far for food prep and at my campsite for cutting and spilting wood. Cutting string, tape,
and as soon as I get the ok I am going to see how it does at skinning this guy out.

If I had to use it for defending it myself whether stabbing or slashing the Slanted guard is great for keeping my hands from slipping up on the blade during a possible fight.

In the first pic the other 2 knives would work just fine also I think.

Also I normally have my pack with me. in there I have my Deweese pattern knife that looks like this.

The pic above is when it was all nice and new looking lol.
In this pic this is what it looks like now

In my pack I also carry my axe.

If I am on my ATV I carry one of these.

Just this last week for Thanksgiving kathy and I went to visit family in Omaha and I had the green handled one in the car also with my SERE 5.5, axe and Deweese knife also.

With these different tools I feel for most situations pretty good about the choice of tools I carry for a situation like what you decribed. throw in a gun or 2 and my multi tool and life is getting even better.

Just some of my thoughts,

Bryan
