Sodbuster...and lots of them!

It arrived today :D.

Couldn't be happier with it. I'll take a couple more pics tomorrow when the sun is cooperating.

These came in today and I am quite impressed! It rides very well in my watch pocket with its slim profile. I also got the sheath to go along with it, which I look forward to using. Lockup is very solid on both. You immediately notice that you have a well built cutting tool once its gripped in your hand. It gives me the feeling that it will be reliable in handling a wide array of cutting tasks. Mine was very sharp right out of the box. They definitely spent some time, care and effort in sharpening these blades. I plan on using this as my primary folder for a while to get a better idea of how it can do, plus it's always fun to take a newly acquired knife out for a spin.

I don't seem to be very talented at taking photos, but here are my favorite soddies, my GEC 71s. I'm just missing two from having them all.

After the two with bails have been carried and used for various tasks for some time.

These GEC #71s are tough knives and ready and capable of performing most any task.

Those Mudbugs look interesting. Anyone had a chance to really give em a go to see how they perform?

I dig that green micarta. I just got a GEC #73 with that handle. Micarta might just be my favorite handle.

I really like that paper micarta. I almost bought one on that last run. Now I'm wishing had, because my son ends up carrying my mudbug when I take it out.

Them bugs look great! I love 'em. I might have to get another because my son is always carrying mine.

I've been using one for a couple months now. It's my go to knife for hard work. I was using it this weekend doing gardening - splitting and sharpening stakes, digging weeds, cutting plastic fencing and tarps. This size, handle and durability make it a great outdoor work knife. I like the thinner handle - it rides comfortable for it size. The lock is strong - no play in the blade. The pull is not tough - easy to open when your hands are wet. I don't have any negatives for this knife.

These two on the way to me... I guess unless there's a black red neck version, I'll have completed the 71's for now.

I got my first Sodbuster yesterday, a Case Sodbuster Jr. in persimmon jigged bone:

My first gun was a shotgun and my favorite color is orange, so I feel like this SHOT Show baby was made just for me. It's the first Sodbuster I've seen that "spoke" to me, and I'm glad I bought it -- it's a lovely knife.

It feels substantial in-hand despite being light (2.1 oz.) and fairly slim, and the jigging is nicely done and provides a good grip. Everything about it says, "I am a capable tool, made to be used." I can see why folks like this pattern so much.

Beautiful collection! I love the German models and the variance in all the handle thicknesses. Great pics too.

I've been meaning to post some pics of newer additions and finally got a quick second to snap a few pics. First set of photos are four new ones that Case released the last few months. The Raspberry Jigged Bone, Burnt Oatmeal Carved Bone, Hunter Green Jigged bone and Pink Easy open SFO jigged bone. AS you can see, these follow the same thin profile of all the other new jigged bone sodbuster releases from Case. Nice easy pocket riders.

Next is two I think I posted but not certain, the Jigged Rosewood and Barnboard Jigged Burnt Natural Bone Raindrop Damascus. The raindrop damascus is pretty awesome!

A group shot of all the jigged bone releases that Case has released in the last few years, jigged wood in the middle. These are all slim compared to the original Delrin Sodbuster Jr versions. Couple short runs in there like the Civil War series, Case Collectors Club knife and the 125th Anniversary Set Sodbuster broken from a set. There is probably a sodbuster or two made by Case that I don't own but at this point I'm not aware of such a knife. I've heard of a sodbuster made with stag and damascus by Case but have never seen it or know if it's true.

Last but not least, a rare bird I ran into on the auction site, a Moore Maker in Jigged Brown Bone. I've never run across this and can't find much info on the knife, could be a run off or special one off with extra material, or could have been modded. Either way it's a sweet addition to the collection! Definitely made by Queen by all looks of the knife.

What a fabulous picture! And what a drool-worthy collection of Sodbusters, too!
